Well, the Whisper is a spring type air gun.  Tonight i shot a Feinwerkbau. The Feinwerkbau is not a spring gun, it just has a compressed air chamber.  The Feinwerkbau made no noise at all when I fired it (well, a very quiet puff is heard).  The Whisper is REALLY loud compared to the Feinwerkbau and the Whisper bounces all over when fired, TONS of recoil, more than my .22 rimfire rifles.  I have never fired any other spring guns so I can't compare it any other spring guns.  The Whisper may be quiet compared to other "spring guns", I'm not sure though.

A tune will do it wonders. From what I have been told by Gene. Is that the right tune takes out quite a bit of recoil, or just smoother. Making your groups better. The last target you posted looked like you found a groove. Most of the noise that I hear from mine is from the mechanism. The gritty twang will be gone also. Cant wait to tune mine this summer. The trigger was the main reason for most of my fliers. The GRT-III make a great difference just by itself. If you haven't put one in you wont believe the difference(sweet). Best 32 bucks I have spent.

try this link, about halfway down is a springer primer. I have a shadowmatic, the feed is not so good but deadly accurate after some minor tuning. I took a dremel tool and polishhed the mating surfaces of the trigger and ended up using a bastrd file to the break, but now it is sweet. I also had to shoot it about 500 times to settle in to it. Man, thanks so much for the "http://www.arld1.com/" link.  After reading "Demo 10" and "Demo 11", that explains ALL of my problems.

It explains why my friends shots were 3 inches lower than mine, why I am getting random pellet groups, and also why the raptors are hitting to the left of where all my lead pellets were hitting.  For the life of me, I couldn't understand how in the heck the raptors were hitting left until I read about the torque of the spring when it's fired and how different weighted pellets leave the barrel at differnt points of the "torque curve".  It all makes sense now!

It seems like shooting a springer is more of a crap shoot. Ok, maybe it's an art!

For the first 500 rounds through my Whisper, it would only group RWS Supermags. Now that it is broken in, it likes the Superdomes. As it breaks in, it will probably change it's diet.

Mine still likes the RWS superdomes. I shoot roughly 10-20 shots a day at a target the length of my house(37.5 ft). I try all different ways like running up the steps then coming down taking aim and shoot with in 3-5 seconds. Or load and shoot as soon as posiible. I now wonder if the rifle  or barrel has to "warm up". Since usually I do not hit bullseye till after the 3rd shot or so, so I began shooting 3-4 shots as a warm up then shooting for keeps. This has made a huge difference in my accuracy. Maybe I "need" 3-4 shots to get my eyes right or coordination of hand and eye correct, but never-the-less it works for me and consistently so.
