filling hollow composite stock

Hello everyone. I just picked up a gamo cfx in .177 caliber. I also just ordered a bsa 3-12x44 scope for it. I did a little tuning on it to take out the twang and dropped in a grt III trigger (which is amazing by the way). I have seen somewhere that someone filled the butt end of the stock with foam, and others have added weight to it to balance it out and they have gotten more accuracy out of it but I never found any further testing. Has anyone heard of this or done this? I am curious as to results.

All my Gamo synthetic stock butt's are filled with memory foam, add or subtract to your liking. I also filled the square chamber's inside the stock with  section's of Hobby foam cut to fit. Just make sure that the Hooby foam in the chamber's doesn't interfere with the cocking action of the shooter. Ed

I used Duct Seal in my CFX, look in the electrical section at your local Lowes or Home Cheapo.  If you really pack it in, you can get almost 2 pounds in there, but I think that's a little too much.  I found that 1 1/2 lbs. gave the best balance and helped absorb some of the recoil.  If you stick a plastic produce bag in first, it's easy to remove later.

Well I filled the stock with spray foam up to about 1.5" from the butt pad. After 2 days I filled the remaining 1.5" with bondo for weight. The gun kicks a little less and the accuracy has improved slightly I believe just from settling the gun down a bit. I would definately recommend filing the stock with at least foam cause it does shoot a little better. Thanks for the help and suggestions guys.

I just put one pound of duct seal (in a plastic bag) into my CFX. Will test tomorrow to see how it is-- seems more balanced than it was.
