QB57 Takes a Grackle
« on: February 08, 2008, 01:37:52 AM »
I scored my second kill with my QB57 .22 today.  This guy is about as big as Grackles get around here.  He was perched in one of my trees in my front yard  squawking for a mate.  By the time I got my gun ready and on him, he already attracted two other birds.  This bird looked like a monster compared to the others, so he was mine!

Just in case you are interested I looked the Great Tailed Grackle up on Longislandhunter's Bird Identification Link posting (quite handy)...  Here is what it had to say about these pests:

So where is my first kill with the QB57?  It was a Rock Dove I took out about a week ago in my back yard.  That one dropped like a rock and almost hit my dogs.  They then proceeded to mangle it pretty good, so it wasn't very photogenic afterward...

Excellent shooting Josh,,,,, I just love seeing hunting pics of the QB-57's and their kills.  Just proves they can take out pests very well if used within their limits.   Great shooting.......  Great pic....

Ecellent shot Jason. That is a big Grackle. I have droves of them in the yard in the spring and summer. I average whacking about two of those avian scum a day. Keep at 'em Jason, that way there will be fewer of them to migrate north to me.  :)

Now that's a big grackle. Nice shooting, Josh. I've gotta blow the dust off my 2250 and start racking up some more kills. Congrats on the Rock Dove too, I know they're your true nemesis. Have you had the QB57 over the chrony yet?

The gun is still breaking in, but it is chronying around 520fps which is about 8.37fpe with Crosman Premiere Diablos.   I really need to open it up and give it some TLC...it would be awesome if I could get it up to snuff with some of the other tuned QB57s that I have read about in this forum.  I think Gene_SC has his over 700 fps!

Wow, 700 out of that thing would rock! I'm pretty happy just under 10 FPE with my 2250. It certainly doesn't have a hard time killing grackles.

"Did you hit that . ." THUMP. "Oh, nevermind."

Hahaha.

Nice shot Josh and the lil 57 is capable of dropping small game with no problem as seen by your great pic.:) Just one more reason to get my tune & camo finished up on my 57. Thank's for sharing. Ed
