After reading the latest posts about the Wal-Mart air rifle discounts, I couldn't resist temptation and dropped by our only Wally here in Anderson today. Well lo and behold, Crosman Sierra Pros (2) marked down to $109.95 from $149.95.  I had looked at this model before Xmas and found the $149.95 price the lowest off-line and on.  A Sierra Pro kit which includes a CenterPoint 3-9x40AO Mil-Dot scope with dbl. ring (1) pc. mount, targets and silicone treated sock for $109.....WOW.  So I bought a much needed $65 scope and for another $45 they threw in a real nice air rifle. The more I think about it, the more I want to back tomorrow & buy that last CP394AO Mil-Dot scope that comes in a box with a Sierra Pro.
Gentlemen, I want to thank you all for the great heads up on the nice scope deal where they throw in a rifle for damn near free.

Dang, now you guys have got me thinking I need to ride down the road and check out my local Wally World.

And an hour later I returned empty handed.  No Sierras at my Walmart.  I suppose I'll just have to check a few others in my area.

Robbie:
The guy who minds the sporting goods area at my Anderson Wal-Mart told me the Sierra Pro models were not fast movers, so they (WM) were closing them out. At a normal retail price of $149.95 they just don't move as fast as lower priced models like the Quest/Storm at $99.95 and WM wants quick turn-over.
By the way, the Quest/Storm comes with the much less expensive 4x32 scope with duplex reticle and single screw pair of mounting rings. Thus the Quest/Storm is not the "buy" the Sierra Pro is.
Hope you find the Sierra Pro Kit in your area at $109!

I'd love to run across the deal.  But I think Walmart Corp. does not set the sales price or deem what is on closeout.  I think the manager of the store does.  When everybody was touting the Centerpoint 4-16X40 scope I set out to find one.  One store had it on closeout for $25 but was sold out.  The store 5 miles down the road was sold out too but at the ~$70 price.  There was only one store in the B'ham area that claimed to have any and by time I got there a day or two later they only had one left at ~$70.  So it's like Machinist said.... they want to MOVE stock and if something doesn't sell in one store they may mark it down, but that doesn't mean it isn't selling in the store 5 miles down the road at regular price.

You are right corporate does not control the clearance items. The store controls it. Your were right in the fact the no f the stores are the same. Some don't even carry break barrel guns. I'm still itching for another deal so I keep looking.

Barry:
I live a mile and a half East of "The Great Mound" and I think you live a mile and a half north of the County Seat.  Yes, it is easier for me to swing past Wally and post a "buy" if I see one. Speaking of which; Last Thursday when I left Wally there was only one Sierra on the shelf. Today, I went back to get that last one, and three (3) more (total of 4) were on the shelf. I pulled the box that appeared the least tampered and put it on the counter and asked the guy I spoke with Thursday and there today, to open the box so I could examine contents - everything was great except....the scope mount base was missing its stop pin.
I had already explained to him I was really buying for the scope, so he open the other three boxes.  The first one he opened had broken lens covers and a missing stop pin the second, had a good scope, lens covers and the prized stop pin but other stuff was missing.  He was very nice about "swapping" contents about to get me as if I had a good OEM box. That "least tampered" box had not been opened, but it was missing its scope stop pin.
Kinda wonder if there was a whole batch that got out of the factory missing stop pins?  The employee said he thought a store rep would call Crosman for the missing & broken stuff. Me thinks that after the rejects sit behind the counter a few days to a week, they will appear back on the shelf for sale "As Is" and further discounted.  Why? - Path of Least Resistance - maybe.

Barry - E-Mail me as per profile, and let me know when there is a good time to call you.
