It's here & Beautiful
« on: February 12, 2008, 08:05:01 AM »

As I said earlier. it Looks good and feels great.

Cutting corners are obvious if you look close, Plastic butt stock pad, Trigger, Pressure fill cap, but nothing to affect the guns operation just a feeling when you look at it.
Overall my first impression is better than neutral.
Nice wood, mine has nice bluing and a beautiful Benjamin etched Script on the side.
A nice touch was the little plastic clamshell purse with a dozen .22 pellets in it. I might have rather had the Benjamin Hat? Still thanks Crosman
Maybe it's my large collection of cheap guns but the trigger feels fine to me.. Predictable and fairly smooth is all that counts. The lack of recoil is a good thing. Especially when you see 800+ fps on the chrony.

Thanks for the report, Dan- and congrats on your new shooter. If I ever get pulled into the darkside, I suspect this would be the gun what done it ;~D

Does the pump seem pretty substantial?

I've always complained that it is such a rip-off for these companies to demand such high prices for a glorified bicycle pump. Now that I see what a piece of machinery and substantial it is i understand the price. It's as good looking as the gun???
Bryan if you ever come over you might never go back.

Very first pic of the infamous benjamin pump, does it look like fx or bam pump.

Click on the pic it'll take you to a bigger pic. I don't know what a Bam or FX looks like.
Let me know.
This AM I looked at the stock's finish (click on the 2nd pic) and I'm not real happy. I'm thinking about finishing it so it's a bit smoother, less raised grain. (like crosman should have). Is there a safe way to do this?

That sounds about like the Benjamin Legacy I bought, its finish is rough about like stain applied directly with no after finish work done at all.  It's such a basket case I just set it aside and some day will go through it as a project.  The only time I bring it out is to have a friend shoot it to feel how bad a springer can be.

Cheers
Mark

Somewhere someone in China is giggling.
It all goes away when I shoot it.

I know it's hard to tell the size of a gun from pics of just the gun so at the risk of revealing my ugly mug I thought I'd give those interested an Idea of it's size with refrence.

I posted some pix on the yellow forum, shows a little more detail of the pump. New to PCP so I don't know a Hill from a BAM, maybe you can tell. Crosman said the pump is Chinese.

Ok todays input on Dans personal Discovery blog.
I tried some wood floor paste wax on my stock and it came out better than any other gun I've applied it to.
Must be real wood??
Shot mine today just sighting her in so it was frustrating cause it was cold and I kept rotating the turrets in the wrong direction.
Old confused and cold, not a good combination...
Shooting is so different, hard to explain but it's nothing like a springer more like C02 but still way different from a C02 also.
Very fun to shoot.
Loud? Yes, but not a crack or a thud you got to hear it. It sounds powerful without feeling it.
I finally got it sighted in reasonably good before freezing to death and It looks like a real winner.

Warmer yesterday so I got to do some more shooting. I Changed the scope from a 3-9x32 Tasco to a 4x32 a/o BSA. One holers are child's play at 20 yards....Man I like this gun.
Just for fun I turned to the now muddy 50 yard range that had some small cans still hanging from the now wrinkled snow wet and dried  target stand and hit them 2 for 2. One shot at the tattered target showed aprox 1.2 inch from the center. (probably me) I went in cold and very happy.

I guess the 800 fps chrony I got from the included pellets must be same old Crosman weight of, you guessed it, 14.3g because today I got to do some more chroy-ing and the numbers would suggest it's weight thereabouts.
14g Meisterklugens averaged 804 during a 5 shot string.
16.26g Gamo Master Points showed 772.5 average and the light
12.6g Beeman Silver Bears  crossed over the chrony at an average of 871.8 fps.
I wish It weren't so dam cold out, I would have liked to shot some 11.9 Hobby's or better yet 11g even Stenco Green Monster's just to see if it would shoot at the advertised 900 fps. I think it will.
Warmer days are coming.
