This morning after I came home from Home Depot with supplies to start my QB-57 tune, I spotted a large Grackle in one of the Ash trees in my front yard. As I walked into my house it squawked at me...wrong thing to do since I was already in air gun mode. So I grabbed my QB57 and two pellets and slowly went back outside for my shot. By the time I got back the grackle on the left of the picture already called over a friend (grackle on the right of picture) and they were squawking at each other and not paying much attention to me. I lined up on the grackle on the left which seemed like the larger of the two and took my shot. Direct hit! But, it wasn't the cleanest of kills. It did the typical, "Mayday...there is something wrong here..." flight to the ground and died within 3 seconds of the shot. His buddy, the grackle on the right, took off and circled the tree but landed only 10 feet away from where he started. So I loaded pellet #2 and took my shot. This time it was a instant death. It slumped over and hung upside down on the branch for about 10 seconds before dropping like a rock to the ground. So here are kills number 3 and 4 with the untuned QB-57 .22. with a cheap Gamo 4 power scope.
