Don't give up on the Discovery! I've found the biggest improvement in the area of the trigger.
I did some work on the Discovery today. Crown looked OK but I gave it a polishing with 600 grit. Did the 3-screw trigger mod and stoned the mating surfaces then polished with rouge and moly burnish. More adjustment required but still way better than original. Installed a lighter trigger tension spring as well.
Sighted in the new Bushy Sportsman 3-9 and then shot 1-50 yard group after I was on target. If not for the one flier (my fault) the group would have really been sweet. I started off sighting in with RWS domes and then switched to JSB 15.9s. Once I was comfortable that I had it sighted in fairly well, I shot this group. I still have a few clicks of adjustment to get in order to hit the 10 ring at that distance. I really feel that with a little work, the gun will be capable of 3/4" 50 yard groups or perhaps less. Hopefully I'll have a chance to get out again tomorrow at that range.
There realy are 4 shots all in the same enlarged hole there (lower left) with one outlyer. The other holes are from getting it sighted in. Snow was too deep to keep trudging out to change targets.
