RWS 850 Will become your favorite air gun with MODs
« on: March 02, 2008, 01:44:00 AM »

Yellow forums are great: Rich from Michigan can make your 850 really really quiet. It will be like opening pepsi can sound. Bryan and Associates. Those guys have adapter that wil help you fit 9oz paintball tank on your 850. ( save on your money on cartridges) http://www.bryanandac.com/new_page_5.htm

Thank You I hope that will help

I have edited this post. The GTA policies have been abused..

"Any discussion regarding MuzzleBrakes is strictly forbidden. MuzzleBrakes for the most part are illegal in the United States and are either strictly regulated or against the law both Federal as well as many states. Discussing them can lead to cause for investigation for all involved in the discussion as well as your forum. THEY WILL BE DELETED!!!!!"

That modification turns your compensator in to a MuzzleBrake (quite efficient design by the way). I thought they were illegal in US?

They are not legal in the US. To me this is giving the liberals another reason to put more restrictions on air guns. I personally do not care to fount these mods on the GTA. The valve is one thing but moderators or muzzle brakes that are specifically designed to silence the report on an air rifle of any kind are not legal. I would appreciate that all the GTA members follow our policies and not make a big deal out of this thread. Thanks Gene

Actually, muzzle breaks are perfectly legal in the US.  A Muzzle Break (also known as a Compensator) by design isn't meant to quiet the report. They were originally (and still are) intended to decrease recoil & muzzle flip. They actually make the report of a rifle seem LOUDER because of the way the gasses are channeled as they leave the muzzle. Generally the gasses are channeled/vented vertically & horizontally as well as being angled slightly rearward towards the shooter.

Moderators, Suppressors & Non-Cosmetic Barrel Shrouds etc. ARE illegal though. Unless you live in a state where they are legal to own providing you  have the appropriate tax stamp from the BATF.

I agree 100% Sam. But I have found that when making a muzzle brake if you make it where the end of muzzle brake sits about 1/32" in front of the end of muzzle there is no increase in noise. The key is size of exit hole and the crown you put on the brake.. When you make one that extends way past the muzzle end you may get an increase noise factor on CO2 guns and of course possibly a POI shift as well.

Yup... Exactly right Gene! Most of my Break experience comes from firearms where the break actually does extend past the muzzle quite a ways.

But getting back to my previous post about Muzzle Breaks being illegal... I just noticed that the "S" word is automatically changed to Muzzle Break  by the forum software when it's posted.  I guess I kinda jumped the gun on that one...hehe

sorry people

Off the topic:  First amendment with not apply in the “land of the free”.  Freedom with the fine print on the bottom.  Sound like communism to me!!!
