« on: March 03, 2008, 10:11:37 AM »
Not to beat a dead horse but what is the latest info on leapers QC.? Ive read good and bad reviews. Im trying to find a scope in the $50 range. Id like an illuminated mid-size scope for my big cat. Most of my shots will be close so i dont need alot of power. thanx in advance Bently

Do a search on Leapers Scope's on the GTA and I think PeakChick has been buying the 3-9X32 leapers for less than $50.00. I think it is from Optics Planet but check her post and you will not go wrong with that scope. If the Peak buys them, then they must be good..:)

I have a number of Leapers and CenterPoint scopes. I have had very good luck with all of mine, and think they are a good value for the money. The 3-9 x 32 AO scope that Gene mentioned is a great, light weight scope for the money, $39.95 shipped from Optics Planet.

If you want a IR you might look at this 3-9 x 40 AO IR scope at Impact Air Guns, $59.95:

I also noticed on IAG's site a Leapers 3-12x44 AO for $119.00 It has a lifetime warranty. It also looks to be a bit lighter than the standard Leapers Scopes. Anyone have one or know about this model?

Hi Bently
We have sold the 3-9x40 on the RWS 460 and RWS 350 combos for about 6 months with not one returned scope!!
We have been selling leapers scopes for about 1 1/2 years with about 6 returns total and they are great sellers.
To me that saying a lot this is the first post I have seen like this. I am not saying it not true but the AO scopes
have not had a problem

Hi Gene
I Called around to my suppliers for the
Mag 40, 6-24X40 but could not find one.

But I put a Leapers 3-9x32 on a BSA Super Sport. Joe liked it so he bought one for his
BSA and we are going to sight both in today. The optics are clear, love the cross hairs well lets just say
I love Leaper Scopes. We will let you know the out come to night

Thanks Dave for you trouble, I am always looking for good buys on scopes...:) I only have one Leapers Scope out of about 30 or so other brands. Sometimes it is hard to find the right scope for the air rifle I want to put it on. Since my eyes are not as young as they used to bewhich adds to myfield of choices..:) , I really feel comfortable with the 4-12X40 AO scopes. The clearer the better. I also like the liter scopes. Simmons ProAir has been one of my favorite scopes for my air guns. I like the fact that they are liter and the optics are clear. Of course I have some scopes that are not worth even putting on an air gun...:) Also I am on a beer budget when it comes to scopes as well.:) I watch Natchez like a hawk because I found they have some good sales and also Optics Planet sometimes can compete with there no charge for shipping policy.. I only have a couple of the BSA 3-9X40 AO scopes and they are borderline with my eyes, so they sit in my cabinet. Never bought another brand in that power to compare. My shooting is generally outat 50 to 60 yards max but most is under 50 yards. Nothing like a nice clear crisp scope when shooting targets..:) I assume Joe is a young buck and has eyes like a fox..:) Hope he is happy with his new Leapers. I know some of the members here just love them. Right now I am using a BSA 3-12X44 AO on my BSA Lightning but will be changing over to one of my Simmons Pro Air 4-12X40 AO's soon. My Simmons scopes get moved around allot..:) since I have been buying some German Air Rifle's. I do not ownany magnum air rifle's any more so I do not worry about scope's breaking.

Hi Bently
Thanks for the heads up on the site information or should I say lack of all. The hole Leapers
page needs to be redone they keep adding new products and then removing old in a short period of
time we were waiting for them to settle down. They are on the cutting edge of optics and I like them
I think you made a great choice I have that scope on my Air Arms 200B and it is one of my best combos
May be you could post your thoughts on the scope after you mount it?

Bently it isgreat that you are still posting and GTA is lucky to have you as a new member

Hi Gene
I think you know your scopes! If there is scopes you think we should carry let me know
We were carrying Simmons Pro Air but at one time we could not get them I will look into it today

I actually own the scope that Dave was talking about in his post.  I'm not saying I own the same model, I actually own Daves old scope...the 3x12x44AO Mini he got back as a replacement from Leapers.  He's right, it's not a great scope, probably not worth the $126 they sell for, but it's not a bad scope either...just kinda "murky" and dark.  I recently bought one of the Centerpoint scopes (rebranded Leapers) that they sell at Walmart for $69.  Its a 4x16x40AO scope with illuminated reticle.  This scope is actually one of the better scopes I own, I would probably pay $150 for it easy.  At $69 it's a real sweet deal, so sweet in fact that I went and bought a second one today:)  As with anything in airguns, some things are good, some are bad, look at the Beeman chinese guns, some are real junk and yet Beeman also sells rebranded HW rifles that are nothing short of spectacular...just depends.  Seems like Dave at CAG has you hooked up with a good choice at a good price.  Sounds like you ordered a "Bugbuster" scope, they get pretty good reviews.  Good luck and happy shooting!

Dave, just an update I got the scope the day I got home and sighted it in right away. Great scope I love it. I gotta tell ya what happened two days after I got it. My boys and I went shooting and my son leaned my gun on the jeep. (dummy) when my other boy jumped in my gun dropped right on the scope on the concrete! When we went home I shot at my target to check accuracy. It was shooting about an inch high but held zero fine and no problems what so ever. The adj. caps were scratched up and it has some nicks on the rear eye peice but the scope is fine. Pretty tough if you ask me. So id give the leapers two thumbs up. Bently
