« on: March 10, 2008, 12:00:52 PM »
I,m getting ready to order one,if you own this gun,how do you like it,mine will not be used for anything but hunting. Do you prefer Rd. ball or conical. For about first 4 shots ,what is your max killing range-fox.And any other advice would be helpful, Thanks ,Paul

Shot a Dragonslayer .50 quite a bit this weekend.  Hope you like loud guns cuz these things really pop!  I dunno about the .45 ammo, but the .50 slugs are pricey, makes shooting centerfires seem more worth the cost.  But man, what excellent power!  Another thing that kinda bugged me was the 5 full power shots then refill, they tend to eat alot:)

As a side note I own a Career 707 and once owned a Sumtra also, the Korean guns are a real nice product if the 4 I've shot are any evidence.  For the price compared to most other PCP's these are the ticket.  If I was in the market for a Big Bore airgun then a Korean gun would be my first choice.  Good luck!

I have had one for testing and this gun is really great. I have shot it out to 75yds with .457 round balls and it packs a punch. I was hoping to use it for coyote but none have showed yet. For fox this gun will do the job but might be a bit of overkill. A sumatra in 22 or .25 would be fantastic for fox out to 75yds. Fox overall are fairly light frame and easily taken with a head shot

While checking ammo prices and availability !

Yipes 50 cal & 45 is expensive, but dam 375 g is huge vs 43g in .25! Hmmm...?

But, I found  .25 is the only easily available pellet & reasonably .22 priced.

A .25 pellet  $ wise is 3.5 cents to 6 cents ea. vs aprox. 43-48 cents ea for 50 cal. or 31-38 cents for .45 cal.

I'm personally going .25 next.

But then I'm broke and I don't hunt wild boar...!

But I do love that gun!!

You can buy bullet molds and cast your own bullets cheaply. I get my lead in the form of used wheelweights from tire shops. There are a lot of good mold designs from Lee and Lyman in the .454-.457 size range. I have a .45 roundball 2 cavity moldfrom RCBS that I bought for $20.00 on clearance from a gun store that was getting out of black powder.
I saw somewhere a Sam Yang brochure that showed a shotgun version of the 909. I've thought about making a straight rifled muzzle attachment, like the one on the .45-.410 Rexio/Commanche single shot pistols, that stop the shot column from spinning before it leaves the barrel. Would make a great multi purpose PCP.  I already have .410 over-powder and over-shot wads.

It shoots great with the Pyramyd slugs ,infact i just took a yearling doe at 37 yd. complete pass thru, both lungs and she dropped less than 10 yds. . I,m going to order 50 Barns 220 grainers ,for the next hunt. It is one sweet airgun.

I have 4 different molds for .45 caliber, as well as a .45 cal bullet swaging die.

One mold is the Lyman 180 gr devastator hollow point. Another is a round ball. Another is a minie ball. Another is a Lee REAL. Another is a 298 grain round nosed solid. Guess I have 5 molds.
I can quit anytime. I'm not addicted.
