I'm going to get me a Disco
« on: March 13, 2008, 06:29:47 AM »
I've been doing some research on the Disco and some mods that have been done to them. The pne that caught my attention is the installation of a power adjustment and HDD "kit" . I'm a fan of 12 fpe , so reducing the power down to this level and increasing the shot count really appealed to me. What I found was by installing the kit and reducing the power down to around 13-14 fpe increases the shot count to around  50-65 shots. at 65 shots this would give me enough air from my 88cf scuba tank(filled to 3300psi) for 130 fills ; that equates to approx. 8,450 shots for a $7 scuba tank fill . Talk about being economical  to shoot.  I will be getting one of these soon and I'm going to set it up for 12 fpe to shoot hunter style field target with . I'll be posting some updates soon. kirby EDIT : Just pushed the Button on one of these after talking to Crosman about availability . I was told there was a couple in stock that they didn't have orders for but she couldn't guarantee shipment for maybe two weeks . She said all of the ones in stock may have been spoken for and I may have to wait for the next batch to be  built. Anyways It's on the way . kirby

Congrats Dave!

You gonna put the metal 2240 grip frame on it and get yourself a custom stock?  Someone we know is accepting orders again....very tempting:)

Hope you enjoy the new lady!

Take care,
Dan

You know , the thought had crossed my mind. It's that common illness we all have that causes use to start thinking alike. LOL Just going to check one out first and see if I want to sink any more into one. If I like it , I could see getting a .22 to drag around in the woods next fall to keep from dinging up my AirArms . The .177 may make a good loaner field target rifle for those who want to try it out. kirby

Congratulations ; I guess we should get them about the same time. Which caliber did you order. I was told the .22 are harder to get (more popular) and the pumps will hold up shipment too, if you ordered one of those. Good luck. kirby

Joe, when is the one you ordered on Friday going to be "out for delivery."  Pics are a must. I pushed the button on a 4 x16 CenterPoint at Wally World just to cure my itch. Seriously thinking about a Discovery in .22. Might have to go get that other scope I left behind, just in case.

I ordered a .22 w/pump 3/7 it shipped out 3//11 and got here today.
BTW..I ordered from Crosman because if I have any issues I can deal with them instead.

Haven't shot it much, no real testing yet.
But it's too loud for my neighborhood, I'll just use it in the woods instead.

My right eye is messed up so I can't use the open sights real good even though they are nice.

To me it sound like a .22 w/CB caps

Pics will be forthcoming.

That's a nice piece of wood on that one. Nice grain in the butt stock. Dang they shipped that out quick. I must have just hit it at the wrong time. The lady told me they had 10 of the .177's in stock and 7 orders pending but she couldn't guarantee when I could get one. I don't mind waiting a little while. kirby

Re-did my fill numbers for the Disco
« Reply #14 on: March 20, 2008, 08:34:41 AM »
Now, That I actually own one(Disco) , I can accurately calculate the number of fills and shots I can get from my scuba tanks. With the 30cf tank (weighs approx. 15 lbs.) filled to 3100psi , I can get 120 fills with my Discovery at 35 shots per fill, that produces 4,300 shots from a $7 fill on the scuba tank. With my 88cf tank filled to 3300psi, I would get 368 fills for a total of 12,905 shots for a $7 scuba tank fill. Wow !! And these can be had for approx. $200 for tank and fill gauge yoke or about the price of one of the cheaper pumps. kirby
