Gamo Rocket Accuracy in Big Cat
« on: March 16, 2008, 12:09:11 PM »
My Big Cat doesn't seem to like the Gamo Rocket Pellets.  Every shot I take misses the target low.  Maybe it's because they fit the bore too tightly.  I sure hope it's not that my new gun is already weakening and can't shoot these 9.6 grain pellets.  My Big Cat does do well with the Gamo Tomahawks, Crosman Pointed, and RWS SuperDome.  When I don't follow-thru I do tend to miss low (the gun drops down) so maybe the extra weight or tight fit throws me off? Anyone else experience anything similar or have any ideas what the problem could be?

Another member just posted in the Gamo GAte about having problems with his GAMO Extreme shooting rockets so low that he can't adjust the scope to bring the P.O.I. up enough. Could just be a coincidence but thought I'd mention it.....

When I have shot them with my Whisper, they are low and to the left. Not more than an inch low at 15 yards. They group well but not as tight as the Wolverines or the Predators. My gun is sighted in with the Predators, and the Wolverines shoot through the same hole. Man these guns are fun.  :)

I've shot Crosman Wad Cutters, Tomahawks and RWS Domes thru my Big Cat....although at 10 meters...they do group at different spots.  I guess the weight difference and shape of the pellets have effect on POI....

I guess I just worry too much that there's something wrong with my Big Cat.  Maybe 'cause my last gun (Crosman Storm XT) broke in 2 months. The solution seems to be to sight in my gun with the pellets I plan to use most, and those that seem best.  Thanks for the responses.

My Big Cat shot them well at ten yards but I never tried them any further than that. I use them in my Talon SS and I like them a lot. Crosman Premier shot the best out of all of the pellets I own in the Big Cat and she is lethal with them too 700 rats on her.

Well, if mine doesn't shoot them well is there a problem with my Big Cat or the way I'm shooting it?

Well, sometimes it's the shooter (In my case...I'm sure it's me!!!) that causes a miss, but every gun acts abit differently...even if it's the same brand and model.  Just test different pellets thru your air rifle until you find one that it likes....it's a + + situation....you get to shoot more to hone your skils and break in the rifle. :)   And all those pellets that the gun don't like will probably meet the needs of the NEW guns you're going to buy in the future.  :p

yeah, they do shoot lower in mine too but they also group the best with the deepest penatration. i use to have to adjust elevation all the way up just to get them correct on paper. i purchased the gamo raised scope rail, now i don't have to adjust it to max elevation anymore.
