Best mount for a RWS 34 Panther?
« on: March 17, 2008, 01:48:03 AM »
I recently purchased a RWS Panther and have had issues with two mount coming loose. I am going to get the gun tuned to reduce some of the vibration but would like to get recommendations on good fixed mounts for a Leapers 3X9X40 SCOPE. i TRIED THE rws c MOUNT, BUT WITH TOO MANY ADJUSTMENTS, IT KEEPS COMING LOOSE.

I have owned three different 34 series rifles. After fighting with several different mounts, including the RWS C-Mount, I found the BKL 260 series, one piece, 6 screw mount. In my opinion, this is "the" mount to use on the RWS rail. The BKL 260 mount with its 6 screw clamping does not incorporate, or need a stop pin. Once the BKL is properly mounted it will not move. The mount is also available with droop compensation in either .004" & .007" per inch of droop cpmpensation. I use the 260 D7 and have never had one of them let me down. I have that mount on three different rifles. They are a bit pricely at $55.00 + shipping, but worth every penny. Straight Shooters is a great source for them, in stock and quick shipping and great communications.
The current stable, (arsenal, quiver?): BSA Lightning XL .177, BSA Sportsman HV .22, BSA Ultra .177, CZ634 .177, Daystate Harrier X .177, TAU 200 Senior .177, HW 97 .177, HW 50s .177, HW 30 .177, RWS 92 .177, Gamo 126 MC Super, Gamo Big Cat .177, AR2078A, QB78 .177, Quest 1000 .177, Beeman SS650 .177., Beeman P17 .177.

Stephanie is correct,,,,, they are great mounts and well worth the money....

I went a different route with my Panther though,,,,, I used an Accushot 1 piece mount and shimmed the rear of the scope with 2 pieces of 35 mm film negative. (did the same thing on my RWS 350 magnum). Worked great and mount hasn't moved one bit on either rifle. The Accushot is much cheaper, like $16 bucks, and they work well.

I'm not bad mouthing the BKL though,,, it's a great mount for sure..... Just thought I'd mention another (cheaper) option.

You need to put 700 pellets through the gun first before scoping her, i used accushot with four bolts meduim mount one piece.  With the stop screw and everything loctighted i had no movement.  A brand new gun will move a scope mine did three times and every bolt came loose.  Use that blue loc
