Since Ed's on the trail
« on: March 18, 2008, 10:15:13 AM »

I was working on a stock Saturday, when I looked up to see 7 nutters runnin around the yard. I've been leaving them alone for the last few weeks, but 7 was too many, hehe. I went inside and grabbed my 2250 and slipped back out. The first was sitting about 3yrds in front of my target box, put the crosshairs on his little eye and took it out. The next one was right in front of my shed about 52yrds, he got the same. I shot 2 more and watched them through the scope and they never moved, but when I went to retrieve them they were gone. Oh well 2 for me and 2 for the other varments, hehe.

Thanks Jeff. I just wish that I could have found the other 2. I've been shootin paintballs at 30-50yrds, so a nutters noggin, was a walk in the park, hehe.

50yd shot?  wow!  Good shooting.  How much power (FPE) does that 2250 put out?  I 'm surprised it had enough kinetic energy to take out a squirrel at over 50yds.  Was it quick or did it take him a while to die?

BTW, is small game season still in effect where you live?  Normally it's over by the end of February.. unless you have a spring hunting season there.. but since you didn't bother them for several weeks, maybe it's ok?  :)

They are running all over my property as we speak.  Hadn't seen any in at least 2-3 weeks and was getting worried, but I took 20 of them just on my property alone this past winter so I 'll wait until Sept. when the season opens again.  I 'm just going to try and fatten them up for now and help them increase their #'s.

Harry, I'm not sure what it's puttin out, now that the weather has warmed up abit more, but at 66deg was 705fps with a 14.3 Benji, 15.78fpe. It was about 77 on this day, so may have been alittle more.

Ed, I had to get after them, they've been chewin up my shed and most of what's in it. I guess I should have added that they were taken, while I was seated at my bench.

Hey Splash&Shadow,Tim here. Man you guys got it going on!! Thanks so much for joining over at Kliffs.I must set the record straight, over there I said "keep it clean like TV huntin shows" You must understand as a moderator,I must bow to the "Mary Poppins" there to some extent. Here I will say POST on my friends! I gave fair warning to all that may not hunt. The pics. above give me great pleasure,I hate rats! (ground or tree)! I just made a post at D.W. to Harry about a loophole I found in the law pertaining to your "percieved" threat from Crows to your crops. Man that leaves alot open to interpitation!! They are eating my grass seed, they are harrasing the he$$ out of my "crop" of nesting Hawks. They must be dealt with.,,I will post pics. here soon. Thanks for having me here,& thanks for your support at Kliffs,,Tim.
