Hey there.  I am having some consistency problems with my rifle (hunter elite) as well.  But here are some things to think about before panicking....
How many rounds have you put through your rifle?  Springers take some time to "break in".  Look up "dieseling" in the library here or on pyramidair.com for more info on that.
What ammunition are you using?  The hunter extreme is...well, extreme and I would be leery of using light ammunition in it.
Most of all though, I would wait till I put at least 500 rounds through it to make any judgments about it.  When I got mine it was all over the place, but it settled down and now is shooting very well.
And, if all else fails charliedatuna's the man to send your rifle to when it's broke.  Look him up at charliedatuna.com
Good luck!

Hi Robert,

Did you clean the barrel yet??? If not get yourself some "Goo Gone",, they sell it in Walmart, Eckert Drugs, CVX Pharmacies, and most good hardware stores. Take a length of weed whacker line and cut one end with a point to it. Take the other end and, using a lighter or match, burn it to form a small ball. Let it cool. Now use the pointed end to pierce a cleaning patch soaked in the Goo Gone and run the patch to "ball end" of the line. Insert the pointed end into the barrel at the breach where you load the pellet. Push the line until it comes of of the muzzle then pull the patch through. Keep doing this until, alternating with dry patches, until the barrel is clean and the patches come out clean. That should take care of your dieseling problem.

Not quite sure what other problems you're having with the rifle. Is it just that fact that it's not shooting accurately??? If so one of the best things you can do to greatly improve your accuracy is to buy one of the GRT triggers from Bob (aka: charliedatuna) ,, here's the link..

Home Charliedatuna

His trigger will literally transform your gun.

You also didn't say what pellets you're using..... Do yourself a favor and try a number of different pellets. You can get a good "sampler pack" from straightshooters.com  ,,,, using a different pellet can make all the difference in the world.

I own a .22 GAMO 1250 which is basically the exact same gun,, just an older version. Great gun, accurate, powerful, a real game getter.  Bobs trigger helped me tame my 1250, I know it can help you also.....

Hope this helps ya some.  I"m sure some of the other GTA members will chime in with more advice......

Rob,
It's a real nice gun,i also own one,I don't shoot it often,I haven't had a chance to get it outside yet, when the weather gets nice & my issues with my EX reguarding my house is over, I will play with it on my property and get a better feel for it...I can say for sure that it is powerfull...my bathroom door can vouch for that...the pellets,(that's right more than once)somehow went thru both my targets & thru the door....what idiot puts a bathroom door in the entrance of a bathroom.... duuhhh! HA..HA.HA..Whatever you do,DO NOT USE THOSE PBA PELLETS IN THAT GUN....Forget that 180lb hog hype,What they don't show you in that video,is that TONY SOPRANO cracked the hog in the head with a LOUIE-VILLE SLUGGER before the pellet was shot LOL! The PBAs eventually will ruin your gun, read MR.CDTs info on pellet weight, it helps........IT IS A SHARP GUN, Yoy will enjoy it ....GOOD LUCK!

i got some goo gone after i got the gun and cleaned her real good.i dont shoot the pba's.i have nine diff. pellets to try out.so far i have only shot the promagnums and the rockets by gamo.my pellet sizes vary from 7.9 to 9.6gr.i did start getting a bit of a group w/ the rockets for about 4 to 5 shots then the next 3 or 4 would be way off.i am shooting 25 yrds.i know what causes dieseling and im not sure if thats what my guns doing or not.when i reload right after the shot its got a small amount of smoke flowing from the chamber or from the hole the pellet sits in front of.its very little but am not sure if thats a prob. or not.i know Bob said not to shoot pellets over 9.6gr. but i know i need to get the speed down.would it be wise to maybe shoot the beeman kodiacs.(10.6gr)now for my scope, its shooting way low.i ran outta elevation.when they talk about shimming it w/ .35mm film is that the negatives you get back w/ your pictures.if it is is it to much to use 2 pieces as a shim.one last thing, when i want to reset my scope on the elevation do i count the turns  from top to bottom and then set it on the middle.(example:turn it all the way up,then count the turns until its all the way down, set in middle.)this is all new to me.never had to deal w/ scopes this much.never had to shim rifle scopes or reset.you all have been so much help.its great to see everyone helping each other out.i know ive been asking a lot from you all and to see the support is mind blowing.platinum stars for you all.thankx,Robert

Hey Robert... the pellet weights that I recommend are for most guns in general and a "rule of thumb"  but the Magnum and Super Magnum guns with the larger power plants can digest the heavier pellets. Try to keep them under a pound or so though... 8)

Bob,

Per your comment above, would you think it's safe to shoot the CPH 10.5gr in my RWS 48?  I know the RWS has been referred to as a "magnum" but if that be the case, 50 fps is the seperator between my magnum and my gamos.

thanks Bob for the info,so i guess the hunter extreme would be considered a magnum or super mag.

That would be correct.  Most here suggest using one or two pieces of film negatives underneath the rear scope ring.  Remove the scope ring caps, pull the scope up and place the film negatives under the rear of the scope only.  I suppose you could trim them nicely with scissors to keep them from showing.  Set the scope back down on top and replace the caps.
