Whats up with gamo ?
« on: March 18, 2008, 04:33:29 PM »
I sent my 220 in to Gamo to repair the sloppy side to side barrel movement about 3/4 of a inch which made it hard to hit the side of a barn!.I called Gamo and thay said to send it in thats dangerous the barrel could come off so I did .It was only a month old when I sent it to them 4 weeeks latter I got it back and the only thing thay did was change the stock to one with a worse finsh?. I had to pay shipping and insurance +$10 for shipping back to me about $30 total. What a joke!!!!!!!! I sent a note telling whats wrong and then latter when thay received it Called and asked to talk to the person doing the repairs .Was told the people doing the repairs don't talk to the costomers .I think thay send there guns out some place for repairs.I'm going to call them tommorow and see what thay say the only problem there is thay don't answer the phone not good.......Has anyone else had Gamo problems like this.  Hobby

gamo customer service stinks. i've had problems with them trying to get parts. i told them it's not that hard for me to install the part and willing to sign a waiver if i was to injure myself installing it but they still insisted for me to send it in. i've exchanged many e-mails with gamoUSA and gamoSPAIN. same results. spain wrote back saying that the problem is only to be handled by gamoUSA. neither will claim any responsibility for the guns that customers send in for repairs if lost, stolen, or damaged while being shipped back. didn't sound too competent to me. so i never sent mine in for repair. had to do it myself.

LPC, I feel  your pain.I have returned no less than 8 1250's over the last few years when the spring broke after 3000-5000 shots. They would always just send me a new one with about 1 week turn around until the last time which took two months to get back.It looks like  you are at a crossroads. Learn all you can and fix it yourself or try to find someone to do it for you.       thats the route I've chosen. Also Gamo isn't the only company that sells air rifles.

You had to pay for return shipping?

Bummer. When I bought a refurb 220 about a year and a half ago, it had a bent barrel. I sent it in, and Gamo sent back the same gun untouched. I sent it in AGAIN (at my expense), and they finally took care of it. Overall, it took around 2 months, if I remember right.

At least I didn't have to pay for return shipping though. Maybe it was because I had just gotten the gun.

I would call then and raise bloody hell. And find out if it can be fixed with Crosman Quest parts - because Crosman does sell service parts to anyone.

I can't get any one at gamo to respond to my phone calls. When you buy a gamo and you need repair work done good luck 'thay do not stand by there warranties .I had heard about gamos warranties problems but did not think that thay could be this bad . I paid $130.00 for this gun and I cant sell it like this, $30 to gamo shipping and back to me + the $130.00  I spent fore it I'm out $160.00.....If you buy a new gamo BEWARE there warranties are what thay decide to fix. Don't get Burned like me guys .A broken air gun is just parts. My RWS is 12 years old never a problem. Thanks for your input Hobby....RWS 34..IZH Baikal 513..2 Power line 1000s..

I Called  the (U.S consumer product safety commission fire arms dept 1-202-927-7777) I told them Gamo sent it back to me and did not address the problem and this is unsafe .Thay took info and said thay will send Gamo a letter. Thay told me that Gamo had recalled 17000 air rifles in 06-07. I Search for( Air Rifle recall) and found Gamos recall phone # did not work no surprize.I also told this to the safety commission and was told thay will contack Gamo about this .Also you can find under state goverment offices of your state in the phone book (consumer affairs department)  .Every state has different rules for companys .I will also call the better business bureaul on monday. Better check and see if your air rifle was recalled There was like 4 models . I think GUMBO just needs a good lawsuit to set them strait......Hope this helps....Hobby......  :emoticon:
