top-mount scope base.
« on: August 27, 2006, 02:47:54 AM »

How would one put a top-mount scope base [weaver?, or other] on an S1k?

I have this gouge on the top of mine from a gunsmith [who I bought my scope from] who screwed the stop into the top between the scope grooves instead of drilling a dimple as he said he would. A few, deep circular scars are there.

I didn't find it until I sent my gun to CdT and took off the mounts.

I am torqued off, but there's nothing I can do now except take my business elsewhrere, and relate my story if the situation comes up.

So, I'd like to cover it up with a top mount.

I've been suing a couple of these mounts without a bit of trouble.
http://sunshineairguns.net/catalog/index.php?cPath=31

Can certainly spend more....think the RWS mount will be about $56, Beeman about $48, B-squared about $35....but these $13 and $14 dollar mountsw have prooven to be more than tough enough.

If your old mounting system allowed you to be on target without any mount supplied windage or elevation, then these mon-adjustable mounts are the best deal.  IF you had to shim the scope or run the scope's adjustments to near their ends, may want to cough up the extra $ for an adjustable mount (or a rail and adjustable rings).

Those are the Accushot by Leapers mounts, same thing I use on my CFX.  I like that the scope stop pin is integrated into the mount, don'e have to mess around with a seperate stop block.  BTW, they're also available from Pyramid Air for about the same price.

Are several dealers...did check Pyrimid Air first...but are currently listed as out of stock.

HAve used two of them extensivily...no complaints.

One I "ruined" becasue I needed a mount .4" shorter to fit the rails...so I cut .4" out of the mddle and converted it to a two-piece mount.  Not as strong as the one-piece, but it fits...and seems to still be more than strong enough.

I was wondering if there was a top mount scope base, and could I attach it to the receiver like on the shadow supreme.

I havethe 2-screw two-piece mounts, but I had a problem with it walking until the stop pin was cranked down, and I'd like to cover the damage the "gunsmith" made.

You think these one-piecers will not slide?

A whole lot more clamping area and a scope stop screw built in..tend to stay put.

IF you have the rings, and just won't to cover up the imperection, wouldn't the rings you have cover it up when you put them back on?

I thought I'd missed what you were really after.  B-Square makes several adapters that will do what you want, and they will allow you stick to standard airgun 11mm mounts or go to a Weaver or Pictinny style.  Possible down side is that it will raise you scope height by about 12 mm.  Again, Pyramid stocks some.  Good luck.\

I've been looking on pyramyd, and can't find anything that I can be sure will fit.

Could you give me a link?

Do you have a link to how to put them on?

Do you think I could buy the one on the Supreme from Gamo?

Dave, Ed does not have a hole or dimple between his integrated dove tail on his barrel. Yes those Accushots have a set pin hole that works great on the CFX and I have used them until I ran accross the BKL Cantalever mounts. They are so much liter than the Accushots. Probably even hold better because you do not have to utilize a stop or set pin to hold the mount in position on the barrel.

I ended up taking the Accushot off my S1K and puting a BKL Cantalever mount on it and I do not use a stop plate. Holding tight after 1000 pellets now.

Ed, unless you want to add more weight to your S1K then don't put a scope mount block on it. Just invest in a BKL 3" Cantelever mount "Model # 253"  and be done with it.... :)

It mounts just like a regular scope mount, here's the link- http://www.pyramydair.com/cgi-bin/accessory.pl?accessory_id=299.  Hope this helps.

I have the B-square AA mount, which I like, since it will fix the considerable "negative" droop the gun has.
I guess I'll just drill a stop hole and use it.

I don't understand why this is superior to other rings.

Could you explain what it is I'm missing?
