Erratic target hits
« on: March 22, 2008, 06:23:22 AM »
I was able to shoot a little this morning b/4 it started to rain.  My shots were not as consistent as I had expected.  I notice a nick in the "O" ring where the the pellet goes in.  I figure this is the problem.  is that "O" ring easy to replace and if so where can I get one?

Wow...I had a great talk with cdt this afternoon and performed a test he suggested to determine if my breach seal was still good.  as it turns out it's still functioning fine.  So. the other possibility is that I need some sensitivity training...LOL  He suggested reading Hold Sensitivity on his web site...OK If that's what the Master says then that's what I'll do.

Well Dave I had the same problem with shooting springers at first. I could not hit nuttin..:) Was all over the place. It took a while before it sunk in that shooting a springer is completly different than a powder burner. Once you learn the particular charactoristics of your B-4 and go with the flow you will start to improve. Then it is a matter of finding that special point in which you hold it. Once you start getting  more consistant then find your sweetest spot and practice and practice..:) It will come to you sooner or later...:) In my case it was almost a year..:(

Good Luck

You could go to the depot in the plumbing section with your old o ring or take it to a bearing shop they both have o rings the bearing shop has all sizes I used to get 6 inch o rings for video housings I used to make for scuba in a bearing store. You can use a toothpic or any pointed thing to get under the o ring to get it out it is just pushed in and you could also just turn it over the other side is useable too . howie

I find when I get a flyer  most shots are touching each orthe and one goes wild about 1 inch off it usally a under size pellet what I've been doing is when I see that a pellet just falls in the breach I shoot it on a different bull and go back to the target I'm been shooting after I get rid of the bad pellet. howie

That is exactly right Howard... Nothing worse than haveing a nice pattern going and on the tenth shot you throw in a less than average pellet and it flies off an inch or so..:(  Like you, I look at the skirts as I am loading. Of course they get the deep six if anything looks bad..:)
