It never seems to amaze me how quickly our language evolves, and how much friendlier and gentler it is becoming.

At one time, if you used illegal drugs for recreation and "mind altering experiences", you were aJunkie, but not now, because you have become a poor sick person, addicted to drugs, in rapid need or rehabilitation.

And if you were a person that overly enjoyed alcohol, for any reason, you were a Drunk!, but not now, as you have become a sick person addicted to alcohol!

It seems that at a time not that long ago, a person told a lie, you were a story teller, a speaker of untruths, a person that tells stories, a Lier, now, if they are of the proper political persuasion, they miss-speak !

It continues to amaze me how the American English language can be soooo creative to fill the needs of the few, but oh so powerful !

I think that I will now call myself an Engineer of ballistic pneumatic propulsion sciences , instead of an air rifle shooter, ... but no, I like air rifle shooter better, as it lacks the political overtones of B.S. :emoticon:

Just my thoughts of how the future will continue to evolve..

It would be better if we went back to calling a lier a lire and a bum a bum instead of homeless I know their are people with problems , and they need help but their are a lot of street pan handlers (beggers) that don't want to work like the rest of us and want a free ride but their is work out their if you want it not allwayse a great pay but it can keep the wolf away from the door till something better comes . Most of my life I was self employed and when things were slow you did whatever it took to feed wife and kids any kind of work is better than begging.Sugar coating the names of bad things don't make it go away just cover up what it is.

Hey Howie,

Most of the "Homeless" have mental problems, and could not perform a job if one was given to them.

Years ago, the courts, in their infinite wisdom, decided that if a person was not a danger to themselves or anyone else, that the States could not hold them against their will. Now if you are afflicted with a mental problem, and can't determine if you should poop yourself, or through crap at the next passer by, how can you decide if you need mental help I believe that the judges that came up with this solution, should be in a mental hospital 24 - 7 for a week or two. But it saved the States a bundle that they could use for other purposes,oh no !

Also, many of the homeless are Veterans, that returned home after serving their country, but as anyone that served in a combat position can tell you, you will never be the same again. Some can control or deal with the fears and horrors of combat, but many can't, and do not assimilate back into society as easily as everyone hopes! Others a sickened by diseases and chemical and biological attacks by agents used in combat, but never admitted to by our, or any Governments, so these soldiers go without help, and without aid!

We will always have the free spirited hobo's, or bums, that can function, but choose not to. You seldom see them as they tend to live awayon the fringessociety, and occasionally ask for some food or drink.

Bill I was not referring to people with real problems but to the deadbeats out their that don't want to work and would rather have us pay their way ( jail birds, druggies ect.) not real sick people.You have your right to your opinion thats part of the freedom we have in this country and that right is and has been portected by out men in the armed forces.I know their are other branches out their but as a Marine it's hard to recognize them. ( HA  HA ) Us jar heads think their is only branch of the service.

I just wanted others that to know that every pan handler on the street is not just a lazy bum.

And why so many people are walking around loose today. All to many people think that someone owes them something, when they never gave anything at all.

All gave some, some gave all, and others gave all too much !

The Marines are good men,somebody haskeep the sailors safe when there on leave ! :p LOL
