TELL GAMO WHAT YOU WANT IN A NEW RIFLE
« on: March 27, 2008, 04:43:14 AM »

Hey Gamo Shooters,

Why not tell Gamo what YOU would like in a New Gamo Rife.

We are the GAMO FORUM, and I think someone at Gamo watches what we say ! So let them know what modifications or changes would make YOU happy to buy a New Gamo Model..

I want a carbine length CFX in .177. Not over 40" in length. No thumbhole stock, no moderator. Just more compact, pointable, same action and power.

Less plastic parts aside from the stock, those new guns with plastic coated barrels just feel flimsy and we've even seen a broken one here. Better trigger from the factory and more power for the 22 versions. What else, AO scopes for all scoped guns as well as one piece mounts with scope stops.
If some is good and more is better - then too much is just right.

I agree with Steph, cept have the option of wood, syn stock, in either sport, target or t-hole style, in .177,.20 and .22cal. :) Oh and the most important thing would be to have better QC and support after the sale, ie parts and customer service. 8)

a good, working scope..........nothing fancy, just working, for the whisper. mine wasn't any good right out of the box, and I have read a couple others on here have had the same problem.

I like mike's suggestion of being able to choose your stock, that would be fantastic. wood or synthetic, thumbhole or no thumbhole.

maybe have an "a la carte" build a rifle area on their website like crosman has? I'd love to have the option of scopes, different mounts, and stocks.

For the most part Gamo has a decent line of air rifles, all of which suffer from a bad trigger.  Those that have a scope riser need to have it made from steel rather than the soft aluminum they currently use.  Lastly, it would be nice if you could easily purchase repair parts for their guns.

I want a Whisper in .22 cal with the magic trigger installed from the factory. Gamo give Bob a call and make him a deal. His trigger in your guns make them worth buying. :o

Give us rifles in 22 cal and a good trigger. I would like a light weight, carbine length ( 40" max ), break barrel, Hunter pro / Hunter elite grade wood stock with a GRT III grade trigger that would put a 14.5 grain pellet out the barrel at a true 650 - 750 fps. I think open sights would be nice as stock and you should be able to scope it easily. On a scoped version a six to eight inch muzzle break, black metal cylinder, not whisper shaped  would also be nice. A good price range in my mind would be $180 to $250 depending on what it has on it. I also really like Mark's custom shop Idea. Most of all I would like to see many more choices in .22 cal.

I most certainly agree.  Make GRT3's factory stock.  Just got my Hunter Elite back from Bob yesterday and whoa- what a difference!  The Turbo helped.  Maybe a laminated version of the stock in walnut would be nice too.  Now all they've gotta do is start making .22's.

When the new Hunter extreme comes out in .22 this year, give it a better looking sporter or varmint style stock instead of plain jane. The announcement I saw in American Hunter Mag showed the same ol same ol look except it's a .22. Don"t bother changing the trigger because we can replace them. The best quality control ever for a $400.00+ air gun and finally a superior scope mounting foundation to harness the extreme recoil. They used to have a integral raised scope rail on the 1250 but my new Extreme .177 has only shallow grooves and a single stop pin hole.It won't last unless I take Extreme measures to secure it.Oh yeah, make scoping it optional.Don't force me to buy inferior mounts and a scope just to get the rifle. Are you listening Gamo?In the 1250/Extreme .177 with lubed,matched,10.5 gr pellets you are delivering more energy on target at 50 yds.than any other .177 springer and a lot of .22's. You have a good product. Now make it better. Not faster. It's fast enough.P.S. For those of us who refuse to believe that a hunting rifle that produces 20+ fpe at the muzzle   shouldn't be shot as much as a plinker, well some of us like to shoot the big kickers a lot. Make the springs last longer than 3000 shots. Sending it back every time a spring breaks gets wearisome. 3000 shot life cycle is pretty short.

I'd second the Carbine legnth CFX in .22 . Also get rid of that rotary loading port for a Swing Open type like on the Hammerli Nova.  Also a CO2 or PCP version of the CFX and Whisper line!!!

I'm going to repeat what everyone else has expressed.  .22 cal with real power... Beeman quotes 1000-850 fps on some models why not Gamo. Better scope and rings.  I've shot a ton of rifle and I have never intentionally mounted a fixed 4x scope to any of my hardware.  HINT HINT GAMO... 3x9x40 or even better a 4x16x44 . BSA is standard on the rifles we have available.....   Steph I agree with a  short carbine version of the CFX.  Someone mentioned maybe a pick and choose option.  Great Idea!  I'd love to get a walnut stock and... Hmmm maybe a laminated with a thumbhole and cheek piece for my CFX.  OH one original idea.  How about installed lugs on the front and rear of the stock with the ability to put on a bi pod and sling???  Last but not least,.... The trigger!!!!!!!!!

I think Peak mentioned the CFX carbine above and she also mentioned this same CFX carbine a year ago in a post. Yes that would be a great combination for sure. Gamo will never produce an air rifle with a trigger like the GRT-III because of liability problems but the GRT -III trigger will always be around as long as Bob or me are kicking..:) And yes possible an improvement over the barrel breech loader would be in order as well. Personally I have never had a problem with loading or bad seals in that area but apparently with many posts in the past about loading problems and torn o'rings on the mechanisim warrant a good look. The CFX is by far the most accurate air rifle out of the box that Gamo produces. It would also be a plus if they would have the option of different stocks, such as good wood and and another good synthetic stock. I would pay the extra for the above if it met the same standards of accuracy as the original CFX. With all this said we are the voice because we buy Gamo products so I think Bill is right. Maybe we all should put together a spec sheet with our combined thoughts of the improvements and send it off to Gamo...:) Maybe someone would actually read it.. :)
