I have been  looking to buy .22 cal springer for a while now. How does this model 89 compares with a Bam B26?  I have read plenty of satisfiied reviews on B26 but none on M89, Thanks,  Ivan

TF-89 is more powerful than the B26. Mine shoots in the high 700's,,,, around 780 and mine isn't broken in quite yet. It's a real powerhouse for sure. I find mine to be a bit hold sensitive, but I seem to be the only one who has this problem as the other members who have it haven't complained of this. My accuracy with the gun is very good, provided I'm shooting offhand. If I shoot from a shooting bench, with the rifle resting on a support, then my groups open up. I can't figure it out, but it's ok cause I use the gun for hunting and when I'm hunting I'm certainly not sitting at a shooting bench :) The 89 is a nice looking gun, relatively light and really packs a whallop. I like mine, although I'm still refining my shooting techniques with it.

As for the B-26,,,,,, should shoot in the 600-700 FPS range depending on pellet choice, is a nice solid shooter out of the box, is very accurate, cocks nicely and has a very good trigger. I have 2 of the B26-2's (thumb hole version) one in .177 and one in .22,,,, can't say enough about them,,, great rifles !! I use them both for pests and small game and they perform flawlessly.

If I could only buy one of them I'd choose the B26.

Thanks for the inside info on both guns. I have read quite a few of your posts before and regard you as well accomplished and experienced shooter yet a very  modest guy. I actually had two contenders for my new .22 and it was Diana 34 and B26-2. Now Gene dropped a monkey wrench in my plans with the Tech Force M89report . But judging from your evaluation of these two models I am leaning back to B26 again. I guess it  is mainly because more and more I tend  believe that velocity is not everything. ( I have seen a lot of folks sellingRWS 350 Mag). Balance between a power, accuracy and ease of hold would be a lot more important to me. I just need a pest control gun that I can rely on to thin out the squirrels of my backyard pecans.( And the pigeons that started expanding in my area deserve bit  more than the my .177). I just need something accurate enough to 30 yards  with decent punch out of the box.
Thanks again for putting me back on the right track!
Ivan

HI IVAN, IF YOU ARE THINKING B 26, CHECK WITH THE GUNSMITH MIKE MELLICK, HE WAS SELLING THEM WITH HIS LUBE TUNE FOR THE SAME PRICE  AS A STOCK GUN FROM MOST RETAILERS. I BOUGHT ONE FROM HIM AND AM THRILLED.   AS FOR YOUR PEST PROBLEM, I WASNT SURE IF THE B-26 WOULD HAVE ENOUGH JIUCE. BUT IT DOES .  FOR MY PENETRATION TEST I PLACED A PIECE OF 1/4" PLYWOOD IN FRONT OF A PLASTIC QUART MILK JUG FILLED WITH WATER AND USING CROSSMAN PREMIER .22.    AT 20 YARDS THE PELLLET GOES THRU THE PLYWOOD AND THE MILK JUG AND KEEPS GOING. IM NOT SURE ABOUT THE PIGEONS IN YOUR HOOD BUT THE ONES AROUND HERE ARENT "THAT" TOUGH .  MARK

Ivan, the TF-89 is very accurate but would never be an FT shooter..:) 800 fps is a good number for a .22 when hunting. A .177 with a consistant 800 fps is a great gun for target shooting. I have allot of them..:) If you do not plan on hunting then leave the TF-89 .22 alone..:) There are plenty other .177 springers out there that will fill the bill for accurate target shooting and plinking. Of course the B-26 is one of them. I own a B-20 which is of the earlier version of the B-26 which I have tuned and it is a great shooter. :)

Good Luck

Hi, Mark and thanks for the input. It is something I have been looking for if I could buy one already tuned. If anyone here can tell me how to get in touch with Mike Melick I would apreciate it. Thanks, Ivan

They also have their 99's and 97's on sale too. As far as the quality of the TF-89 it's one of the best guns that I own. It's a .177 that'll shoot  RWS Superdomes @ 1000 fps. that's not their numbers, it's mine. Nice tight groups @ 30 yards. Of course that's after a very nice tune by Gene! I just need to get out and shoot it more. It's a very nice deal @ this price. I bought mine for full price and it's worth it. Damn, I just might get a .22 version, Gene I might be sending you another.

Mike

Not a problem Michael, I have been doing allot of them lately. The great thing about the Titan's and the TF 89 is that they both have allot of potential and only need a good tune to bring out the best in them. I might mention that the TF 97 & 99 can not hold a candle to the quality of the Titan or TF 89.

Compasseco needs to get their pricing in line before I buy one. Their "Sale" price is a good bit higher than the going price of a Titan.

Ya Joe the Titan and the TF-89 are the same with the exception of the Titan only being available in a .177 only, plus the stock on the TF-89 has some nice checkering on it. Talking about price, the Beeman GH-950 sells as high as $270.00 and is the exact same air rifle as both the Titan and TF-89. The stock on it has no checkering..:(  But you could always find a AR-1000 .22 or .177 at a good price..:)

Is the RWS Hammerli Titan the same gun as the 89?  If so I found a store that is selling them with 4x scope for $114 and change.  Think I may have to buy it!
