Did I do a Rip Van Winkle?
« on: March 30, 2008, 03:17:30 AM »
And sleep until November??!!  The 4" of snow we got Friday pretty much melted off yesterday, but I woke up this morning to another inch, and it's still coming down!  I thought March was IN like a lion and OUT like a lamb.  My chickens are NOT amused!  Some pics for your entertainment, later.

Howdy Rip, Rod Sterling here.  It's not that you have slept for 4 months, it's that you have now entered,.....The Twilight Zone!

At least Dan didn't try to impersonate Rod Serling and chose to be Rod Sterling instead.  It hardly ever snows here in Alabama but occasionally we do get a freak event.  Two in mind, once it snowed in April and not too many years ago it snowed in excess of a foot overnight.  Imagine that!  In a place where it hasn't really snowed and accumalated in years and you wake to 14" of snow in your front yard.  I recall watching it come down that night.  It was driven by a cold front crossing with a thurnderstorm.  That was the first time in my life I had ever seen near continous GREEN lightning.  It was probably the last time also to see more than a foot of snow here in Alabama.  It crippled the B'ham area for nearly a week.  It has snowed twice this year.  But what fell overnight was gone before 10am.

I'd imagine it doesn't snow that often in Ft. Worth/Dallas either, does it?  I have a best buddy from high school who ran your way in the lat 80's.  He still comes to see me every big holiday when he's home to see family.

Not often, but it does occasionally.  We had some last month:
