Most accurate?
« on: April 06, 2008, 06:21:26 AM »
First of all id like to say that im new here and i really like these forums.

Now onto business; a few months ago i got a Gamo Big Cat, but now im thinking i want a better airrifle.

Of these three witch is the most accurate:

Gamo Viper
Gamo Whisper
Gamo CFX

If you have had experience with any of the above, it would be helpful if you listed your furthest kill.

Gil,
The only one of these that I have had any dealings with is the Gamo CFX.  Actually its my first Gamo rifle.  I got it a couple of weeks ago and I really like it.  The only thing that is a pain in the a&& is the loading.  Once you get used to it, it aint that bad.  As far as the farthest kill with it is a squirell, it was in my neighbors back yard (he didnt mind) and was up in a tree about 20+ foot.  I paced it off @ 51 paces, so I figure its about 40-50 yards.
I also got the GRTIII trigger in her tho, WELL worth the money!!!!!!!!  It shoots better than I can shoot it.  I really like it.
Welcome to the forum, you will like it here.  I have only been here for a short time myself.  But alot of info is here, alot of great folks too!!

Them and those pigeons. The strangest thing happened to me the other day; i was sitting on a bench near wall mart and i hear almost like water hitting the ground next to me. I take a closer looker and it looks like poop and snot. So I look up to see what could have caused and i see this huge black pigeon. Never in my life have i seen a bird throw up. Oh well, their not safe from me anymore. hehehe.

Yeah, I know what you mean.  Between them tree rats and the crows and the starlings,  I have plenty of targets out here tho!!  Goinna have to get me a tree stand or something tho, when they see me coming outside, they scatter, so, I gotta kinda, really be sneeky anymore, and hell, I am too old for that!!!!

I know what you mean about them scattering. When me and my friend used to go lizard hunting, after a while they would see us coming and would run. So we waited a  while until they thought it was safe to come back.

Oh and is it safe to use Hoppes No.9 Solvent to clean my barrel with? Its not oil I hope.

I have the Whisper from Gamo and am very happy with it. It is quiet, powerful and pretty good quality. I have added the GRT II trigger and it is indeed an improvement in both accurency and feel. It also looks good, a gold trigger on the all black rifle. I shot a tree rat at about 35 yards with a head shot using a Gamo rocket pellet, even at this distance it went clean through his head, he was dead beore he hit the ground. I also shot a Crosman Quest, the moment you touch it you know it is a POS. Chineese quality junk, had rust on the barrel and the Chineese mystery wood stock broke after 250 shots. Would not reccomend this piece of crap to anyone. I also like the Beeman dual barrel. I comes with a .177 barrel and a .22 barrel, it does 1000fps in .177 and 850-900 with the .22 barrel. I saw them at Wallyworld for like 159 bucks in Naples Florida. I opened the box to check it out and seemed like very nice quality, maybe a littel heavy but whatever. Good lck, I would reccomend the Whisper for backyard hunting(it is quiet too!)

Gil, if you buy the CFX and you are going to do the turbo tune. I would talk to Bob and let him know that the big brown truck will be dropping off your new rifle. I wish I would have sent my Whisper straight to him. FYI I love my Whisper she shoots sweet, and I haven't had her tuned yet.
