Quick Afternoon Hunt

Had to stay home most of the day due to the landscaper coming over to do the spring clean up on my yard, but as soon as he left I grabbed the .22 Panther, some CPH's and headed for the duck farm.  As soon as I parked the truck and got out I heard the familiar call of crows.  I looked down towards the duck pens and there was a flock of crows that had just taken off from inside the pen.  Not quite sure what they were doing there but they were making the ducks nervous.  As they flew off one of em landed in a large dead tree 35 yards away.  I already had a pellet loaded so I set the AO to the appropriate range, took aim and fired.  Pellet struck home, crow dropped like a rock.  One less crow to harass the ducks :)    I loaded another pellet and took off walking towards a small wooded area hoping to find some g-hogs out and about. Just then my cell phone rang and it was my good buddy  Joe Cuz/akita breeder  :)  We talked for a few minutes but then my stupid cell phone battery decided to die out on my.  Joe and I had to cut out conversation short so I went back on the hunt.  Sorry bout that Joe, I was enjoying our talk..  
 

I worked my way around the duck farm and while there were plenty of birds flying around they were just to spooky to get close to.  I did manage to nail 2 starlings before I called it quits so at least I got a little shooting.  Never did see any G-hogs, but I know they're there....

Great story my friend and sharp shootin on the crow.:) Summer's popping everywhere and I noticed that the critter's here are easy to spook at time's and I think thier getting ready look for a mate which should distract em some hehehe. Thank's for sharing buddy. Ed

Those Crows are hard to shoot, very cautious birds ! Good Shootin !!!

I always leave my cell phone in the truck, it always rings at the worst moments, always ! :)

Good shooting Jeff!  You probably didn't post the pic because the crow season is over?  No incriminating evidence! hehe :)
 
I 'm glad you are able to still get them.  They are all gone from here but I 'm also afraid of my next door neighbor who is dying to catch me doing something illegal.  The jerk came out just after I had shot 2 crows back to back on the day before last of the small-game season.  He 's unemployed and leeches off his wife who supports him so he 's home all the time.  He came to the edge of my property near the bushes where he had a clear view of my back yard about 40yds away and yelled out "are you allowed to shoot those?"  I said yep, I got a hunting license..  What did he expect me to say? "no, but I did it anyway"?  He asked me the same question last September after I had shot a groundhog.  Very annoying..

Kudos!!, i agree with that. Jerks seem to live everywhere no matter where you move. Why can some people just not mind their own business??
Hey Harry as long as there's no evidence, they have nothing on you. I'snt Posession 9 tenths of the Law in the US??? HA>HA>HA.

I just love the hunting stories and pics, wish i could go around shooting freely in my back yard, but our local Laws are very strict. And my nextdoor neighbouir is one of those "nosy b***rds" where discussing!!

I have to go about 60-70 mles out of my way to shoot on the "Farm"

Wow really sorry to hear about that Johan.  I 'm glad I don't have that problem.  I can shoot freely in my back yard as long as the pellet doesn't end up in someone else's back yard. I can also shoot whatever is in season (no firearms though) but that jerk next door has called the cops on me twice so far.  He calls them and tells them "shots fired".  Actually I don't know if it's the cops making it up or if he said it that way.  
The cops come, ask were you shooting a gun, and I say I sure was, my pellet gun, and they leave.  The 2nd time they came it was 2 different ones and were more inquisitive.  They asked what was I shooting my pellet gun at and I told them a squirrel.  They said did you get him?  I said sure did.  They said can we see him?  I pointed at him reaching for my wallet where I keep my hunting license, but they took a look and left - didn't even ask for a hunting license.  They always say fine and have a nice day, but not before asking to see some ID and all that every time.  And YES BILL, I told them my next door neighbor is on drugs because I was PO'd! hehehe

Dang nosy neighbor..  If he calls teh cops again I 'm telling them he 's dealing!  :-)
