New "Big Cat" owner.
« on: April 10, 2008, 05:37:07 PM »
New here to pellet guns.  I've shot several different firearms from 9mm to AK's to AR-15's.  Though, I wouldn't exactly consider myself an avid "shooter".  Most of my firearm experience is occasional.  So you could consider me a novice when it comes to guns in general.  I find  myself to be a decent shot, yet still a NEWB per say.  A couple a days ago I decided to randomly pick up a pellet gun.  I did happen to do some research before my purchase, something I tend to do before most purchases.  I was originally going to purchase a GAMO "Hunter Sport" but opted not to due to price, FPS and personal preference compared to the Big Cat.  At first I was expecting a flimsy cheap pellet gun.  I was surprisingly mistaken at the quality of this gun.  I'm still getting used to it as I've only shot 50 pellets or so.  Haven't been able to properly sight the provided GAMO 3-9x40 scope, as I'm having some trouble being I've never sighted a scope before.  I've done some reading thus far, and from what I've gathered, a tune by CharlieDaTuna with a GRT-III trigger does this gun much justice, not to mention purchasing a new scope.  I plan on purchasing many more guns as I'm already hooked.  Any helpful insight is greatly appreciated.

PS, I live in West, TX.  Yes that means out in the desert.  There is plenty of game where I live, being I live out in the country on several acres of desert landscape away from the city.  We have cotton tail, jack rabbits, owls, pigeons, hawks, buzzards, several type of small birds, quail and the occasional coyote,  I'm sure I missed a few.

Aaron,
Welcom to the GTA, there is a great bunch of folks here.  I am new here myself, but have learned alot from these people.  Also, welcome to the world of pellet rifles.  Yes they are addictive.  I think you will really like your Big Cat when you get your GRT III trigger in er.  Will make a world of difference in a rifle.  I put one in my CFX and I really  like it ALOT!  On sighting your scope in, I know some  people get mixed up on what to do, but say, your shooting high and to the right on your target, you would adjust your scope down and to the left.  And eventually you will git er there.  Sounds like you are in a perfect place to shoot huh?  Again welcome to the GTA!!

Another welcome Aaron. It sounds like you have a great area to shoot in.
I have a Big Cat too. I was very pleased with the accuracy of this light, handy rifle, so much so that I did have mine professionally tuned. The GRT-III trigger was a must as well.
