Good eat'n
« on: April 12, 2008, 04:37:38 PM »

Well, I headed outside about 11am to site my newly acquired Gamo Hunter Sport.  Got her sited at about 30yds, shooting targets all day.  I then decided to do some hunting and test out how well I sited her.  I was fix'n to take another shot at a target I've got setup, and in the corner of my eye I see something move.  I knew instantly it was one of the many Desert Cottontail's we've got around here.  So I carefully moved towards it with a RWS SP loaded, got within 30 yds of it, took aim  and let her rip.  I heard the wonderful sound a direct hit, rabbit instantly fell  and knew it was dead.  I then proceeded to dress the cottontail and had a decent meal afterwards.  Later this same exact evening, I knew the infestation of pigeons would be coming.  So I headed outside yet again, took a few pigeons out at about 50yds and called it a day.  I think tomorrow I'll be having quail.

Hit the spine causing instant paralysis and death.

I was planning on grilling the rabbit up, though I had a change of heart and threw it on the pan.  As for the pigeons, I wouldn't eat them.  Gave them to the neighbor, what he does with them is beyond me.  They're not too hard to hunt, there are tons and tons of mesquite bushes around that I use for concealment.
