Hey rld1965, I haven't  kept recent records on a wide variety of pellets because I settled on the CP heavy's a long time ago.Currently I'm getting avg. velocity of 1030 fps with these pellets. Now I silicon lube these pellets which slows them down over an unlubricated pellet but if you don't you'll have to clean the barrel a lot more frequently because of barrel leading. You can see the build up just by looking thru the breech toward the light. Thats the only reason I lube them, to reduce barrel cleaning frequency.Anyways that's pertnear 25ft.lbs. at the muzzle. I once set up my chrono at 50 yds and got about 13 ft. lbs with this pellet  although I don't remember exactly the #'s. I do remember that that pellet retained more energy than kodiaks, and every other heavy pellet I tried.

how do you lube the pellets before you shoot them ? do you just dip them in a lube ? also do you know how heavy your cp heavys were? i know with my hunter extreme i am getting 1101 fps from the muzzle with 8.2 rws meist . i do not know if this normal fps for this gun because i do not have another one to compare it to.

rld1965, I spray them with an aeresol silicone lube I got @ wally world. I actually spray the stuff into a small pan that I heat on the stove to evaporate the carrier then add the pellets to the residue in the pan and stir and thourougly coat all the pellets. They feel kind of greasy but they prevent barrel leading with the hard antimony containing  crossman premiers. Pure lead pellets won't likely need any kind of lube as they actually leave less of a deposit in the barel. But my pellet of choice with this gun is the cp 10.5 gr. Good accuracy, and more retained energy than anything else.I weigh my pellets on a digital scale and they usually gain about .1/grain after applying the lube. (10.6 gr)  Your velocity #'s with the 8.2 grain pellets sound about right. 22+ ft.lbs.My gun will probably slow down as time goes on as they all do. But until you break a spring you should  get at least 22ft.lbs @ the muzzle with this gun.A GRT111 trigger on this gun will increase your pleasure.... I highly recommend it.

the trigger was the first thing i did to the gun and what a difference that trigger has done for the gun. my buddy also has the same gun as mine the hunter extreme and just as new but his gun is shooting rws 8.2 grain meist pellet 915 fps were mine is at 1101 fps with the same pellet? he said a few times when he went to cock the gun and the spring kinda got hung up ? he had to move the barrell up and down and then it realeased. could this be the reason his gun shoots so much slower than mine with the same pellet

Sure could and thats why he should send the gun back immediatly to Gamo. Power #'s like that usually mean a broken spring. His  gun probably is cocking with much less effort than it did when it was new.Its easy to break springs in this model if you shoot light pellets or if you get any combustibles in the air chamber. If your rifle is cracking like a rimfire, you would be better served to go to a heavier pellet. My track record is not too good with springs in this model as I had to learn the hard way over and over again.I must have returned a dozen Hunter 1250's after the springs broke at approximatly 3000 shots each.Nevertheless I love what these models will do as far as accuracy and power. Excellent hunting tool. Just my opinion but I'll bet you will get satisfactory results with more power and less velocity by switching to a pellet heavier than the 8.2 gr. The power plant in this gun seems to perform best with a pellet that weighs between 10.2-10.8 gr.

oh, i have been using the rws 8.2 meist pellets because they pattern very well with my gun and are highly talked about. but do you think i might be damaging my gun by shooting these rws 8.2 all this time ? i get confused as what is right to shoot in the gamo hunter extreme gun or not. they say if you shoot a pellet that is heavy anything over 9.5 gr you can put to much stress on the spring ? also i read if you use a light pellet you can do a number of things from burn seals , break springs ? i do not know hope fully i did not do any damage to my gun by shooting those 8.2 gr.

Well if you keep in context that this gun is designed as a powerful hunting rifle wouldn't it make sense to use a pellet that is better suited for the true magnum class that this powerplant produces. This rifle is not in the same class as those that benefit from light to medium weight pellets. 9.5 grains is not heavy to this rifle.I have shot 11.6 grain pellets with no problems although they didn't shoot as accuratly as the 10.5 gr. pellets. I'd say 9.5 grains is a good starting point with  with the Extreme.

WHICH 10.5 GRAIN PELLET WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TO USE IN MY GUN ? I DO AGREE WITH WHAT YOU ARE SAYING BUT THERE WERE ARTICLES ABOUT HOW HEAVY PELLETS CAN DAMAGE YOUR GUN AND I WAS JUST WORRIED ABOUT USING TO HEAVY OF A PELLET. I THINK SOMEONE HAD SAID TO STAY BETWEEN 7.0 AND 9.5 GR AND YOU WOULD BE SAFE.?SO I WENT WITH THE 8.2 GR. I WILL TRY SOME 10.5 GR TO SEE HOW SHE SHOOTS.

My advice would be to try different pellets and see which is most accurate and delivers and retains the most energy at the distances you would use the gun. The spring that is in the Extreme is heavier than the springs in other mid power and magnum class air rifles so the recommendations that apply to these guns in general can be somewhat expanded when it comes to the Extreme. I have shot lots of paper and game with the Crossman Premier 10.5 gr. pellets and I do believe it is adequately accurate and it retains more energy at 50 yards than any other pellet. When the weather gets better here and my tax obligations are behind me I will set up my chronograph and get you some 30 yard and 50 yard velocity and power #'s. By the way springs do break in time if you shoot enough regardless of pellet weight. So shoot what seems good to you but stay away from Raptors and other ultra light pellets. If your gun is "cracking like a rimfire" shoot a heavier pelletAnd don't go oiling too much as that will get you in trouble pretty quick too.

When I bought my Gamo Royal Hurricane 1250 .22 a little over 2 years ago, I took it to CDT and asked him if he could do a tune on it. After he disassembled it he realized that the seal and main spring was a breed of it's own, so he agreed to de burred it completely and did his normal super lube tune. I still have the chrony numbers on her from his Post Lube Tune.

Gamo Hunters .22 - 14.3g

957-fps

955-fps

960-fps

956-fps

951-fps

961-fps

952-fps

956-fps

959-fps

955-fps

The highest velocity was 961-fps

The lowest velocity was 951-fps

With an average fps of 956.2-fps

Average deviation was 2.44-fps

Extreme deviation was 10-fps

FT Pounds Energy was 29.04

Final trigger pull after GRT-III 1.12oz

This is one of the most powerful springers that I have owned, but never was able to hunt with it because of the size and weight of it..:) Now it belongs to Ed...aka Shadow..:) He is using it for what it was intended for..."HUNTING".. These big magnum springers are not for plinking or target shooting. Make sure you have good shoulders and are of a sturdy build before thinking about buying one of these..:)

And she's still going strong The last reading that I got from her was Gamo Hunter's .22, 14.3g 950.1 Avg. and JSB Predators .22, 16.5g 936.2 Avg. . I did notice slower fps during the cold winter which expected, lubes will thicken up some. Ed
