First kills with BSA SuperSport....
« on: April 15, 2008, 11:46:09 AM »
Today was a horrible day.  I had to write that check to uncle sam instead of buying another gun.  then the moron that works in my office was "sensitive" because another woman had dropped him(third one in a month).  when i got home i grabbed the bsa and a pack of cigarettes and went into the woods to unwind.  just as i entered the woods the tree rats went running everywhere.  i hadn't shot anything but paper with the new gun and knew the scope was true but was a little disappointed in the way the gun wouldn't penetrate the big old hickory nut tree in the yard like the 350 mag does.  the first nut muncher ran to the right and hid behind a tree with a fork in the base.  i waited and then he poked his head up to look and i shot between the forks and nailed him.  the shot was about 30 yards using wolverine pellets.  he rolled over and it was lights out.  the second tree rat took off to the left of me.  i started stalking him but everytime i got within 40 yards or so he would take off like a kangaroo.  after about 10 minutes of this kangaroo chasing i came up on a fallen tree that had a branch sticking up i could use for support.  i braced the rifle and waited for him to move again.  he jumped up on log about 50 yards away and just starred at me.  i allowed for elevation and took the shot.  you could hear the solid impact of the wolverine hitting him.  he fell over and danced around but wasn't  dead.  he was across a barbed wire fence and a creek from me so i couldn't easily get to him to finish the kill so i reloaded, took steady aim allowing for elevation and BAM!...head shot.  2 tree rats in 20 minutes.  i have changed my mind about this bsa.  it really does have the power to hunt with and the wolverine pellets have great shock power.  i came back home feeling better than when i left and only smoked 1 cigarette and 2 tree rats.  i think i'm falling in love with my new bsa.
The hardest part of getting old is trying to look good naked!

Good shooting.  That was a great 2-first kills  :)  but you need to shoot something else, shoot some pics! hehe

I shoot my airguns too when I get stressed out.  It relaxes me.  I remember my first kill with my 350 .22 - a 10-11lb groundhog the day after I got the gun.  Boy that felt good.  Actually I remember all my guns' first kills come to think of it..
Springers:
Diana 36 .177
Diana 350 .22 (donated by Timmy!)

Good shooting Roger,
I've read of many kills by a BSA Supersport.  I'd figure yours to be as deadly.
I nearly bought an older one years ago by a company that was in Massachusets.  They are now out of business.
You've definitely just demonstrated how important shot placement is vs. power.  Great job!
