center point scope ?
« on: April 16, 2008, 09:42:05 AM »
i was needing a new scope for my hunter extreme.i was reading a thread posted last month about the center point 4x.i saw a few of you were using it on your CFX.im not sure how much recoil it puts out.i was wondering if it would hold up to the hunter extreme abuse.is it a pellet gun scope or a riflr scope?

i had a 4-16x40 on my cfx. it lasted a while only. i shoot very often. sometimes 500-1000 rnds per week. like i said it only lasted about six months. in my experience the adjustment knobs gave out first. the screw that holds the knobs down to the adjustment turrets would keep coming loose even with blue lock-tite. next problem was that everytime i turned the adjustment turret's lockring to tighten my setting, it would slightly lift the dial knob up and turn the adjustments one or two clicks back. maybe it was just a bad one, who knows the second one i bought did the same, took it back for refund so now they are not on buying list. centerpoint does make better ones than the walmart models but they cost a pretty penny.

right now i'm using  bsa glass etched, red dot reticle 3-9x40 on both the cfx and the big cat (both rifles are power tuned). i found these two scopes for $39.95 each at a sportsmans warehouse, the online price directly from the manufacturer is double. it seems to be holding together good so far. the extreme is pretty extreme as it is called that for a reason. you might need to spend a little more for a better brand such as leapers or busnell etc... don't forget that good mounts are also required.

others on here might have different testiments than i do. but here are a few good scopes to look at and judge yourself.

I have 2 of the Walmart 4x16x40 Centerpoint scopes.   I have both mounted on PCP's though, so I don't know how they are on a springer.  The Hunter Extreme is a real kicker though, you'll want a good mount as well as a good scope.
