Starlings, Grackles, etc in Missouri

I have been checking the above links, and searching the web, and I cannot find any specific information on which types of birds are protected in Missouri.

Our yard is home to three very tall pine trees, and several other smaller trees... they are absolutely infested with Grackle combat air patrols, and the Starlings seem to have the close air support role down cold.

So, before I thin out these avian roughs and put in a few bird feeders, I would like to know that I am not going to get a visit from the Sheriff.

My wife hates Starlings.  We have an absolute swarm of Grackles too.

Get them and show no mercy!!  :-)  About 7-8 Grackles had taken over my large spruce for a day or two a couple of weeks ago and had evicted a pair of doves that had been with us for 8yrs.  I got 2 of them so they moved to the neighbor's tree about 50yds away but I can still hear them and do fly by's over my property and my spruce frequently, but don't stop anywhere close to taste some lead.

You 're also right.  There always seem to be a few Starlings with them or near them, like the 2 species work together or something.  The Starlings don't catch on as quickly as the Grackles and have allowed me to diminish their #'s considerably in the neighborhood by coming to my property every 2-3 days or so.  Now they are down to 3 after I got 10 or 11 of them and still hang around but always across the street or near the neighbor's spruce where the Grackles now live.  It's kind of messed up to know exactly how many Starlings remain on the block but the truth is I continue to see only 3 together for a week now since I shot the last one.

I think we are in some kind of flyway, I am JUST west of the Missouri river, and I see transient flights of Grackles numbering from 3-4 to 40+ (May just be that time of year).  I haven't seen many Starlings this season, but the Grackles are thick.  I have taken 4 in the last week, and already the number of desirables has increased significantly.  We may actually put a feeder back up.
