SHIN SUNG
« on: April 26, 2008, 06:31:00 AM »
Why do I never hear  of the Career III 707 or the repeater they make or any of their rifles for that mater recommended as a to buy rifle. Is there a problem with the rifles or part availability that I am unaware of ? Some of the prices seem reasonable please educate me .Marvin

I own a Career 707 II which is my most powerful, and amazingly accurate PCP.  I have heard that the newer CareerIII models are not up to the same quality as the older II models, but the II's quality is excellent...so even if the III isn't quite as good, it may still be great.  I know at one time MAc1 was doing a "prep" on the older Career guns to make sure they were ready to go right out of the box, not sure if he does that for the newer models.  Mine shoots Crosman Heavies well past the sound barrier, or way down to maybe 200fps, it's as accurate as anything else I have ever shot, and once I got the pellet stop adjusted correctly it cycles pellets really smooth and really fast.  Only real drawback for this gun is that you have to adjust the pellet stop for each type of pellet you shoot, but once you find out what it likes to eat, there's really no reason to adjust it ever again.  I've got the hard to find .177 CareerII, but this gun would be a real powerhouse with larger heavier pellets in .22, like Kodiaks or Eui Gin's.

Thanks I have heard good else were about these riles and if I had not been misinformed about it not coming in a .177 which is all I shoot I would have possibly bought one when I bought my Discovery. I don't understand why that line on rifles is so over looked by those wanting larger calibers . Their rifles are available in .20 ..25 ,and even the heavy weight stuff. Marvin

Well I don't believe the .177 is available anymore. I have the only one I have ever seen being sold, but then I haven't around too long.  Possibley why they dropped the .177 is because these guns are serious powerhouses.  On mine at about mid power I will shoot regular weight .177's supersonic, even the heavies go supersonic before I reach high power.

Many people don't like the "Western" look of these guns, but I find it appealing.  That may be why you don't see as many of these as you'd expect.  Hunters love these things though, especially the carbines.  In .25 I bet these things really knock the carp out of anything they contact.

Mine is not for sale:)

Dan that's what I mean and with so many hunters out there I would think they would be more popular . The Koreans have been hunting with air rifles a long time from what I have been told. Marvin

I have noticed one thing.  Many of the guys that own one of these guns own at least two, some as many as 4-5.  The guy I bought mine from sold me this CareerII AND a Sumatra carbine .22, and he still had 2 more and another on order.  So I do think it's about the looks of the gun, you either love it or hate it...if you shoot it you wont care how it looks:)

I really like the lever action, makes me feel like Wild Bill Hicock!
