DISCOVERY ACCURACY
« on: April 28, 2008, 08:52:12 AM »
I am get the Discovery ready to do some 50 yard shooting when the wind stops blowing. I installed a BSA Contender 8 - 32 X 40 AO scope on it and zeroed it in inside out of the wind at 16 yards today . I have included some pictures for you . I mounted the scope on medium mounts to keep the scope as parallel to the barrel as possible and I had to remove the rear sight to do this. It really is not much different to load than it was with the high mounts I used with my other scope. Also I was surprised that the scope did focus at 16 yards set at 32 power . Not bad for a $ 90 scope from Natchez . The pictures show a 20 shoot string . The first 15 shoots held a 40 thousand group then it opened up to 70 thousands the last 5 shoots. It lost a little elevation . I have learned to raise my sight picture a little to compensate for this but I left the cross hairs on the cross marks of the target during this sight in . Also other than the scope all that I have done to the rifle is clean the barrel and become accustom to it . Marvin

The factory rear sight is not the best but you could mount a nice peep on the dove tail if you so chose to. With my old eyes I scope everything. Marvin
