Beeman FTS pellet weight?
« on: September 09, 2006, 02:13:12 PM »
This is starting to make me crazy.  Does anyone KNOW what these things actually weigh?  Depending on who's site you're on, I've seen them listed at anywhere from 8.6 to 9.4 gr.  I have a tin, but I don't have a scale (yet!), so I can't weigh them myself.  Also, does anyone know WHY there is so much variation in the listed weight?  Like I said, this is making me crazy, so any help here would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Dave

Dave, according to Straigthshooters review and tested weight = 8.70. Advertised rate is = 8.90 from Beeman.

Here is the link where I found this info:  http://straightshooters.com/ourtake/ottest48.html

It is my opinion that there is a statute somewhere forbidding manufacturers of pellets from putting their weight on the outside of the container. :) :) :)

Actually, RWS does put the weight on the outside of their tins.  At least, they do on the Superdomes, both grains and grams.  Since this is the only RWS pellet I have on hand, I can't speak for the others.  Also, check the bottom of your tins.  Some have stickers that give the head diameter in mm.  All my JSB's do, but only my Beeman FTS's have it.  And it's not H&N, that makes the FTS's for Beeman, I have a tin of H&N Silhouettes that aren't marked, and none of the other 1/2 doz. Beemans I have are marked either.  And I STILL don't know what the FTS's actually weigh!  Can someone PLEEEESE put some on a scale for me??  Thanks.

Thanks, Gene, I just got around to actually looking at the link you gave me.  This sounds about right.  Interesting that the Superdomes actually tested heavier than advertised.  I also find it interesting that they were right up there with the Kodiaks for energy, despite being quite a bit lighter, and a so so BC besides.

Yeah, drives me nuts that Beeman doesn't put the weight on their tins.  All of my RWS have the weights on them.

If that is the case then RWS must be in trouble...:) They print there pellet weight on every tin of pellets that I buy...:)

Really they all should put at least the estimated average wt...
