Dovetail size on a Gamo Shadow 1000?
« on: May 04, 2008, 08:47:51 AM »
I am thinking of upgrading the scope rings that came with my Shadow 1000 to a Leapers Accushot one-piece mount.  But I can't find in the Gamo manual what size the dovetails are.  The Accushot mount comes in both 3/8" and 11mm sizes at PyramydAir and I'm not sure which one would be the correct fit (or neither):

I do not see myself ever upgrading the scope to anything bigger than a 40mm objective.  Would the "medium profile" mount work for 40mm?  Currently I'm using the 4x32 scope that came with it, which seems fine for the moment.  If it is ever replaced, I'm thinking that would be with a 3-9x40, another 4x32, or possibly a 6x32 if those can even be found (being 50+, I don't need a giant exit pupil, 5mm is probably good enough for my older eyes!)

Either will work. 3/8 is 10mm and a medium mount will work up to about 42mm.  :)

Get the 11mm.Reverse the clamp if you have any trouble. medium mounts usually work up to 44mm. Anything bigger needs the high mounts.

I use the 3/8", it's medium hight and works up to 45mm OBJ. Dia.  Haven't had a problem with it.
