will it shake it apart?
« on: May 05, 2008, 07:42:53 AM »
Hi, Just recently joined your forum, and have a question, I plan on mounting a center point 4x16x40 w/ adj ob. on my gamo big cat with leapers one pc. 1" w/ 11mm. dovetail when the mounts come in, and the questions is will this gamo shake the scope apart under casual plinking or occasional squirrel sniping? It has a considerable recoil, more than my ruger 1022.

                                                                                        Thanks BadKarma.

If you meant a CenterPoint 4-16 x 40, that scope is just a rebadged Leapers TS rated scope. It should hold up fine on your Big Cat. That one piece mount is a good choice too.

Bad Karma,

If the scope is not rated for airgun use it will come apart at some point. The recoil on an airgun is different then a powder burner in that the recoil goes both direction before it stops. If the scope is a center point and not a center line you should be o.k.

Sorry guys you are indeed correct center point brand scope , not center line. Too much carpentry this last week, still thinking about measuring walls.
