After finishing dinner this afternoon had about 2 hours of daylight remaining so decided to take a ride to the duck farm and see what pests I could aim at. Went into the gun safe to get the trusty S1K but pulled out the RWS 350 .22 caliber instead. I figured I had a good chance of seeing some woodchucks and the RWS would be just the ticket. Well, didn't see any woodchucks at all, very surprised, but did see a small flock of pigeons in one of the pens dining on duck feed at one of the large box feeders. I managed to sneak within 50 yards without the pigeons spotting me and I took up a position behind a large box feeder. Using the top of the feeder as a rest I set the AO to 50 yards, turned the Leapers 4 x 16 mildot up to magnification level 10, took aim at a large pure white pigeon and pulled the trigger. A second later heard that beautiful sound of the CPHP striking home and the pigeon fell stone dead. At the shot I expected the remaining pigeons to take flight but instead they simply stopped feeding for a second, looked around nervously and then went right back to feeding. I couldn't believe what I was seeing but I loaded another pellet, took aim at a tan colored pigeon, pulled the trigger and once again heard that beautiful "smack" of the pellet and pigeon #2 now lay dead. To my disbelief the flock didn't even flinch and stayed on the ground greedily feeding on the duck feed. Got to make 2 more shots resulting in 2 more dead pigeons before the flock finally took off for parts unknown. Retrieved my trophys and headed back to my truck. God I love that RWS 350 Magnum. It shoots those CPHP's with amazing accuracy and it really packs a whallop.
