New Toy!!!
« on: May 13, 2008, 12:56:20 PM »
I just wanted to share a new acquisition. I have some othesr just been too busy to sit and take pics and write a little. This is a QB78D with a custom riser breech and full shroud. The barrel was cut down so the OAL is the same as a normal QB78. I haven't got a chance to run it over the chrony yet but was told it's shooting 14.3gr @ 680fps. I plan on taking her for a real spin this weekend to find out full power shot count, favorite food, Fps and some accuracy. The only downside is with the riser breech your up to your chin on the cheek rest. Made for selecting a scope tough. I found the center point 3-9x32 non A/O paralax set to 35 yards works pretty well. Provided things work well she will be getting a new bolt handle. :)

Niceeee! Where does one get a riser breech for these?
Is that the small or large plano gun toolbox? I'm also thinking of getting one but couldn't figure out why the small one sells for a few dollars more than the large one...???

Sent you a PM about the Riser. The box is listed as the small one but it's pretty sizable. It has com in handy becase space is limited for me. I rent a condo so all my stuff is stored at my parents house. I hope after the summer that will change and I can get into a small house and build a workshop for a couple different things.

Very sweet Jason. I'll be interested to hear how it shoots and what the noise level is like with that shroud.

Got your PM. Thanks!
That's the small one??? Whoaaa..that is pretty sizable!
I can't imagine how tha large one would be..must be humongous!
I think when I do get one, I'll just go for the small one too..not unless I can compare how large the large one really is!

Well she did not perform to my expectation. The numbers were low way low about 100 fps less than told it was shooting after the tune. The fps would jump all over the place making sighting her in impossible. The only thing that turned out well is that it is very back yard friendly. I have an email into the guy that tuned it to see if he has had any problem with the others that he has built and sold. I'll update you as I make any progress.  :0
