Gamo Hunters or Gamo Hunters?
« on: May 14, 2008, 07:53:34 AM »
I recently tried Gamo Hunters (never used them before) with my new Whisper. I bought a few more tins the other day, and when I got home noticed some of the tins had different print. I figured the one with the picture of the dude on it was maybe a newer tin design, until I noticed that they both shot a little different out of my rifle. Upon closer inspection, the pellets are slightly different. The ones in the plain tin have a plain head with a little flat spot in the center, whereas the ones in the fancy tin have that plus a ring around it. Can anyone tell me about these two different Hunter styles/designs? Is one newer and the other just remnants of older batches floating around?

The new tin design is the same advertised pellet, I believe.  A year ago when I bought a sampler pack from sports authority I got the old design, but this Christmas they have the new design.  Same name though.

It's hard for me to see the close details of the pellets in the small pic, but to me it appears that the pellet on the right is indeed different than the other one. I have a couple of tins of the GAMO Hunters and all of mine look like the one on the left.

Sorry about the size - hopefully this is better. The left is the pellet from the plain tin and to the right is the one from the fancier looking one.

I use em all the time, my girl's like them but the one on the right has a cleaner, smooth finish with some bur's on the skirt. They do have a new look on the tin's that I've noticed also. Ed

The one on the right certainly does appear to have a ring around the tip of the pellet......

I did notice that these pellets expand very well on impact - more than I've seen the CPHPs do.

I use Gamo Hunters all the time and to tell you the truth I never paid close attention to what the pellets looked like in the new labeled tins. I have just been using them and haven't noticed anything different in how they shoot.
After reading this thread I grabbed the tin I've been using (new style) and looked at the pellets up close and they look like the one on the left without the ring. So then I opened up a brand new tin and those pellets looked the same, no rings. These are the new tins with the picture of the dude on the label.
Maybe it's a die lot thing?
