They certainly look like they would do some damage :)

Nice collection there!  The one on the bottom - you custom make that one?  I'm a big fan of the JBL woodies - I used a 42" one when I was living in Hawaii and bagged me a good amount of fish.  I couldn't afford a Riffe (always wanted one) so opted with the woody that was on sale - it turned out to be a great speargun.

Hiroller, yeh I made the one on the bottom. Slapped it together on a friday night on a bet I could not have a functional gun by Sat Am. dive. Well I won the bet, & scored 2 big Sheeps head to boot! Jbl biller, Riffe, All make nice guns. Like my airguns, I love them all. My AB Biller 48 Special Has served me well. My slightly shorter JBL Woody Sawed off Magnum has become my favorite all around go to gun. Good for small fish, & the big ole Groupers when they let me get within range!! Lost a shaft from my 48 to a HUGE Amberjack on a recent wreck dive, but, thats another story! LOL! Tim.P.S. Where Ya live now Hiroller??

That's really cool and impressive.  The last time I had a decent sheep was in cali - man those are great on the grill. I've built spearguns before out in the islands, but they were the simple primitive spoon handled thumb lever guns.  They worked well for small reef fish, but nothing like these guns can handle now.  The biggest amberjack I landed was on Guam and it was a 35 pounder, on a night dive.  We were out lobster hunting and from the start noticed he was following us from a distance.  It was squid season so we kept chumming small squid as we swam and eventually he came in close enough for a good shot right behind the eye.    I'm in Pensacola FL now but haven't had a chance to dive out here at all yet.  Whereabouts are you at?

Hiroller, I live in Charleston S.C.. I have a friend that owns a Marina & a few boats, including his new dive boat. Its I think about  45 feet, set up for diving & fishing. Kinda nice to be inside the AC. in the summer months on the way to the reefs!! Beats the hell out of the ole 25 center console!LOL! How in the heck did I get so side tracked from airguns??LOL! Shoot me a mail,, timmyj1959@yahoo.com  Tim.

Tim, I had a little "pistol" spear gun when I was stationed in Hawaii.  The fish were so wary that you couldn't get close.  I once, while snorkeling, cruised over a large coral to come at them "from out of the sun", Red Baron style.  They all shooed away save one who was peaking out of a hole.  So I turned my attention to him.  He was about as deep as my hand.  As I got closer, he got longer.  This continued until he was a good two-three foot long and still growing.  Sucker was a fair sized Moray eel.  Having seen pictures of quarter inch gnaw marks on stainless spears, I swam like )*()($.  So much for my spear-gunning days.
