quick FPS question
« on: May 21, 2008, 07:13:14 AM »
on the crosman site, where you can build your own custom C02 pistol, what is the FPS of these custom units? is it at the rated 520 of some of the models, or 420 like the others?

my question is what powerplant are they giving you? I can't see anything that gives the rating unless your buying one of their off-the-shelf models.

I'm pretty sure the custom guns are based on the 2300 action with no mods as to velocity. Longer barrels will shot a little faster than short ones up to a point. The stock fps numbers from a 2300 should apply.

Just got a 2300 with the 10" LW in 177 cal. It chronies at about 525-535 FPS with RWS Hobby pellets (7.2 gr, I think). Seems to be the stock system as on other 22xx airguns w/ single CO2 cart.

No valve work done...it's stock inside, so it will shoot to the same speeds as other Crosman's of the same barrel length. The 2300S might be a bit slower than a custom shop of the same length...they use an extra piece inside the valve to take up some of the volume on that one and it feels like the mainspring spring is weaker so it tends to shoot a bit slower (less gas being moved).
