Longbow Shows Her Stuff

This wayward Starling was pecking about in my yard, 25 yds. from my porch. I set the AO on the BSA, squeezed the trigger, CRACK, the Longbow broke the early morning calm. The Starling didn't know the BSA Wolverine had passed right through it and flew 5 ft. and piled up in ball in the yard. This Longbow is a serious sweetheart of a carbine. The ergos are right on par with my BSA Lightning XL, and the Longbow is equally as accurate. I'm working up a full review on the Longbow.

Nice take Peak. I want to add a couple of higher end guns to my collections. Is your longbow English or Turkish? Great shooting!

Fit and finish were very nice. Weight, length and effort required to compress the spring were more than I like personally, but I'm only 6' and weigh 200# ~ so a 10# rig with a 50# effort hanging on to the very end of the barrel convinced me to trade it . . .

Not as sure about the Turkish Webley, but the older British Webley are known to be well built. When the financial problems started for Webley and Scott, there seem to have been more complaints about the stuff shipped just before the 'outsource' occured.

Were an older Webley in good condition {maybe a Timmahawk or JM Tommy} there is good likelyhood that I would have to mull it over. That said, see how often anice Tommy is on the market ? . . .

I had a English Patriot in .22 gasrammed. I traded mine off as well because it would have never been shot much. I've heard the Turkish longbow wasn't that bad but the Patriot was junk.

Hi Peak, Nice shootin! I dont know much about Webleys, BSA,s. (Im kinda a Diana fan) That stock looks like the one Im working on for one of my forum Friends. Im pretty shure he said it was a Webly stock. (Check out my post today at "Shop") I will say this, that is a nice pc. of furnature Im working on,,it shoulders great for me, I would love to be able to shoot the gun. Unfortunatly, John lives in Pa. Bahwahnna is bringing one to the get together he wants me to shoot, great,just what I need, another gun on my LONG wish list!LOL!! My Longbow is a Hatsan, Turkish Longbow. This Turkish Longbow is built like a tank, over built actually. The BSA 3-12 x 42 AO scope on it adds quite a bit of weight to the package, so it's 1-1.5 lbs heavier than my Lightning scoped, about 8.5 lbs. The Longbow is only about 1" longer than the Lightning, very compact. The cocking effort is firm, about like my Lightning, I would hazard a guess in the 40 lb. range. The cocking effort is not so high that I can't enjoy a good shooting session. The trigger, unfortunately is the Hatsan trigger, not the three screw Webley trigger. The Hatsan trigger is about on par with a good Gamo trigger, the only shortfall on this wonderful little hunting carbine. In spite of the trigger this gun is very, very accurate. I'll have a full review available a bit later.

Nice shooting Peak, and I really like your Longbow...:) I would say the exact thing about my new Longbow as well that has had only about 20 shots through her. The trigger is disapointing but it is unusually accurate even with the harsh trigger. I will soon take it to CDT's for a nice lube tune and look into this trigger thing..:) Oh! Bob does not know it yet.. hehe.

Maybe there is hope yet for the Longbow trigger..:)

That Longbow looks nice. I 'm getting to really like carbines now after I got the 850.  May be getting a Birmingham Webley Stingray soon if everything goes well.  I think it's 40" long.  That will be a refreshing change after the 48" 350 and 44" 36.

Good shooting too!  Always happy to see a dead Starling :)
