SHADOWS ON CLEARANCE!
« on: September 15, 2006, 05:57:38 AM »
Just paid a visit to a Walmart in DE, and the Shadow was on clearance for $99. The kid behind the counter didn't know why they were being dumped, but dumped they were.

Needless to say, this jibes with what GamoUsa told me about all the old models being discontinued... the ones with open sights.

In any case I bought one. Dunno why - I've already got 2. Just seemed like it was too good a deal to pass up...

I heard on national news last night that Wally World is no long gonna sell guns. I do not know if it is powder only or all guns....

If you want a Shadow, now is the time to buy it...:)

I read in my NRA American Hunter mag that Walmart is going to stop selling guns in about 1000 of it's stores because they did not do well in those stores.

Yeah with WAL-Mart its about the cash. I doubt they care about what the gun grabbers want. Beleave it  if guns were selling well in those stores they would still be selling them.  But you know the antis they will take ANY situtation and try to play it for their advantage.

Well, that wouldn't be such a bad thing...

...that is, if they're selling what people want to buy. That's the plain and simple "open market", and there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, they sorta have a responsibility to their employees and stockholders to do just that.

If, however, they're responding to some sort of anti-gun horsepoop, well it's a damn shame to see them cave like that.

When I was out with momma shopping today, I broke away and checked out the Wally World in the town we were in. I went to the sporting goods department and ask the guy in charge if they were gonna sell off there invetory of guns. He said his store was not marked as one of the 1000 stores that were no longer selling them. He had a Shadow 1000 and they wanted full price for it..:(  $124.95...

I went to the Hunting store I originally bought my first Shadow 1000 from and all they had was a Hurricane Hunter Royal 1250 .177. Great price. $339.95. Would of bought it but my right shoulder started to hurt when I picked it up....:)

Dang ... lol

I picked one up for $99.00 yesterday and it was the last one on the shelf.
Seems Gamo made a few changes to the late model Shadows. No scope rail just milled grooves and the sights are a bit different.
Shoots good groups though.

Thanks for the tip.

Shadow differences
« Reply #7 on: September 18, 2006, 01:15:44 AM »
Don't think the Shadow ever had a rail. The first one I bought some years ago had a milled receiver.

The differences I picked up are:

1) There's a hood over the front sight
2) The transfer port opening is bevelled
3) The breach block mating face is blued
4) The plastic trigger guard is different
5) The breach lock-up wedge in the receiver is gone, replaced by a bar (ala Benji Legacy 1000)
6) Rear sight is slightly modified to better retain the fiber-optic pipe.

1 and 2 are useful - the hood keeps the front FO from damage, and the bevelled port is probably easier on the seal.

3-4 are obviously cosmetic

5 is probably just for production costs, it seems to work fine.

6 is almost inconsequential..

The Shadow Supremes have the raised scope rail in my Experience not the regular Shadows.

Darn good shooting gun by the way.

I just paid 59.99 for one at the Wal-Mart in Lagunal Niguel, CA yesterday.  They had two left.

They are totally re-setting the interor of this store.  Fishing department is 1/4 the size it was a couple of weeks ago and the gun stuff now all fits behind a wee little counter.

I had to ask for assistance in getting some 100 round boxes of promo shotgun loads.  Stuff used to be on a shelf where you could just take what you wanted.
