Gamo Maxima ?
« on: May 27, 2008, 09:05:34 AM »
Does anyone have any info on Gamos Hunter Maxima. I am looking at purchasing a Whisper and saw the Maxima for a great price. Also maybe a RWS 48. What do you think?

Chris, I've got a tuned Hunter Elite and I'd recommend it to anyone.  As for the Hunter Maxima- I'm not as well versed but I can tell you that a GRTIII trigger and a tune from Bob Werner will make ANY Gamo something to brag about!  The RWS 48's are quite nice as well.  I've been eye-balling the Model 54 for a while now but fuel costs and over-seas transport fee's are upping the price of airguns these days.  The Whisper's a good choice but once again- SPEND SOME MONEY ON A TUNE!

Chris - I recall looking at that rifle prior to purchasing my Whisper.  It looks to me like a hunter with a wooden cfx style stock and cfx brake.  I searched everywhere for information on it but couldn't find anything...

Not trying to say anything bad about Bob's tunes, and I'm sure they are great for someone that already owns a Gamo, BUT...........

By the time you buy a Gamo, then have Bob tune it and put a trigger in it($179.00) you can buy a really nice Diana(good German quality - great trigger) for the same $$$. Shucks, you can get a 34 or a 34 Panther for the price of just the tune!
They is absolutely no comparing the quality, fit, and finish between a Gamo and a Diana. The Dianas win hands down. Yes I do own ONE Gamo, but never again.
