Why the big shrouds on the new Gamo's?
« on: May 27, 2008, 03:06:03 PM »
I was looking at the BSA which was the forerunner of the CFX.  Nice, clean muzzle.  No big plastic pickle.  I have a Kral (CFX copy) and it has an shroud identical to the Gamo.  IMHO, it's a bit over-done, both in size and looks.  Now many of the other new Gamo's seem to be sharing this monstrosity.  (Sorry, but that's how it sit with me.)  Even the shroud on my older-style Varmint Hunter seems conservative in comparison.  Is this just an extension of the fat barrel shroud?  I've taken to calling the new guns Glamo's.

Don't tell me you find the new Gamo muzzle breaks handsome?

Not trying to provoke.  Just that they don't look quite as nice as Gene's, among others.  That is, I don't see many rushing out to copy them.

Hey Red,

What ever floats your boat, that's why Ford and Chevy are still around when you could have Ferrari !

I think they are a great idea, they give you something to hold onto, and keep that acidic sweat off your nice barrel. As for beauty, that's a personal choice, some like blonds, some like redheads and others like brunets.

Go figure, if everyone liked the same thing, there would be only one car maker, one maker of beer, and one T.V. station !

I agree with Brother Bill. Muzzel breaks for me is just like putting after market wheels on your car but the breaks serve as nice cocking handles. The only Gamo that has a larger than average muzzel break is the Whisper which is there for a reason. Gene does beautiful work but it boils down to what tickles your fancy. I got a brunet Bill but love redheads hehehe. :-)
