Filling buttstock with foam

For any of you that have filled a buttstock with foam, do you have any tips or tricks or any other advice before I attempt it??  I know it sounds pretty straightforward, but never tried it till now.  I'll be doing this to a Crosman Phantom/G1.

Also, what kind of foam or filler did you use??

people have used nerf footballs,memory foam,cheap pillows from walyworld then just un stuff them,just take the pad off the back and start cramming it in hope this helped

I've used Memory Foam in all my senthetic stock's including my TAC1 Extreme.22. Just fill to reduce vibration and you may notice a weight distribution or balance in the stock, fill to fit your need's. Ed

I filled my S1K stock with spray foam. I added a little through the hole under the trigger guard, then filled to about 3/4 full, from under the but pad, trimmed off the excess and put the pad back on.

Here's an idea I had when you said that...you could put a smaller container inside and use the spray foam to fill the void! Wouldn't that give you the benefits of having the survival kit (or extra pellets LOL) AND the foam?

Hey folks, I've been contemplating useing 'great-stuff' foam in my Gamo BC. But I know that it expands!!! If you're not careful, and leave enough escaping air exhaust while filling it, it might warp, or mis-shape a synthetic stock,...just my thoughts though. I think memory foam would be safer because you could pack more into it for added firmness, or remove some of it. Like pellets, I reckon you just have to experiment until you find the perfect match/fill. tjk

I used Great-Stuff minimal expanding foam on a Gamo S1K stock. Stuffed a piece of paper towel in the hole at the action end and filled from the butt end (butt pad removed). Shaved off the over flow when dry and reinstalled the pad.

Be careful not to get any foam on the outside of the stock.

I liked how the Gamo felt after foaming so I decided to fill the synthetc stock on my Savage .22rf rifle. By that time the foam had dried up in the can. So I improvised and stuffed the Savage stock with fiberglass house insulation. Packed in real tight and the butt plate back on, it makes for a real solid sounding stock.
