They are good units.  I borrowed a friends Alpha to check out some trouble with my rifle, liked it so much I just bought a new Beta model.  Haven't had the chance to use it yet, most likely later today.  Shooting Chrony's tag line is "Buy yourself an eye opener!" and they are right on the money.  20 plus years back, when I did a lot of handgun reloading, I'd have killed for a chronograph under $100.  At the price, it's more like, can you afford NOT to have one, especially when testing out new pellets and/or rifles.  Not something I expect to use every day, but I don't use my router everyday, either.  Hope this helps.

You bet Dave

A chrony can save you allot of money buying pellets. Over time, enough to pay for the chrony. Without the chrony I would of not know which pellet had the highest FPS with my new .20 cal S1K.

Also one of the best parts about a chrony as Dave mentioned is to periodicaly check your air gun for its health. It is the best indicator of a worn out seal. And if you are a airgunsmith you could not work without one.

I personally bought an F1 months back. Workd great and have had no problems.

Have you done the headphone trick to make the crony read all the stats like avg, extreme spread, and each shots fps. high and low fps.

Take a old set of stero headphones and cut the phones off you just want the jack and the wires.

Strip the wires so  you can flash them together, you just want a momentary contact.

Plug the jack into the crony, put three or four shots through it. touch two wires, try different wires and one set will bring up all the shots, high, low ,extreme spread, etc.

Then just get a switch from radio shack and solder the wires that worked and your all set.

I stuck the switch in an old marker tube and hot glued it in.  Rember momentary contact switch, ya just push the button and every time the crony switchs the memory to read the results.

Bought a new Alpha about 6 or 7 years ago.  After trying mine, friend ordered one of the factory re-build units (belive it was something like $39 back then...think it's about $50 now).  Lost mine in a flood, firend game me his old rebuilt unit...still works just fine.

IF looking for lowest possible cost, would check Chrony's site for the rebuilds (and remember, they got to be rebuilds becasue someone shot theirs).
