Two QB stocks for sale
« on: June 01, 2008, 04:34:24 PM »
These are custom carved QB stocks.  The first is tiger striped curly maple.  Amazing shimmer and sheen.  Thumb hole design.

Note:  The blank from Don Main runs $150.00.  That is uncarved and unfinished.  The recoil pad is 10.99 from Archer Airguns.

The price is $225.00.    That is a total of $64.01 for the carving and finishing.  Not a bad deal.

The second stock is a poplar with a walnut tip.

Stock runs $125.00 on Don's site.  Pad is $10.99.

Price is $200.00.

Shipping for both stocks are extra.

Again, that is $64.01 for the carving and finishing.

These stocks deserve a good home, so come on guys........

Doesn't anyone want a nice stock for their QB?.....

These stocks are crying for a good home.  Considering the labor involved, I think these prices are reasonable, but you tell me....

Your work is actually very expert and excellent. The only problem I can see why they won't bite these is that they where made for the QB78 series of rifles which cost less than $90. That would make the stock more expensive if not twice as expensive as the rifle it was intended for.
At least that is how I see it..just my 0.02 cents.

Yeah, good point.  I would carve for other guns but Don has not done other blanks on a consistent basis.

What other guns do you think?  Discovery?

Gerry:

Actually, that should be either your 2 cents or your 0.02 dollars unless you intend to devalue your opinion by a factor of 100.

In my mind, the worth of a airgun includes the metal, the glass, and the woodwork.  And one of those beautiful stocks would certainly help make a good QB78 a really nice rifle and a pleasure to shoot.  Too bad I don't have a QB78 (yet), else I'd definitely be interested.  But that could change. . .

Tim:

Really nice wood at a good price.  I may have to hire you to make me an ambidextrous stock or perhaps a crossover RH-left-eyed model.  Sorry I can't say "yes!" on one of these beauties.

Tim:

Is this possible:  On that second stock, could you cut down the comb and then laminate a walnut ambidextrous comb  to match the forstock and convert it to an ambidextrous model?  What in addition to your posted price would you charge?  Send me a PM if you might be interested.

Hehe..you're right Tom..hehe.
Anyway, these are certainly very fine examples of creative and talented work.
Though there would be some who would like to make their QB really their own with such fine carvings and probably turn it out as an heirloom to passed on from a Dad to his son...they may be very scarce of which their count can just be probably less than the fingers in my hands.
Beautiful work though and I for one admire works such as these!
By the way, I'm a southpaw also. :-)

Thanks.

I can carve other stocks as long as they are inletted.  Don Main cuts and inlets these for me.  You would need to send him your gun so that he can cut the blank and inlet it.  Then I can carve whatever you want.  Just let me know if and when you want something, I would be more than happy to carve whatever you want.

Both stocks listed are finished.  Do you mean the poplar with the walnut tip?

That one is $200.00 plus shipping

I can carve a stock that is unfinished if you then want to finish it yourself.

Depends on how unfinished.......ready for stain/oil or needs final sanding.

The second stock is poplar with a Grade 2/3 walnut tip.  It is finished with 6 coats of RLO.  The pictures make it seem a bit lighter than it really is.  It has more honey tones with light caramel accents.........makes me hungry now....LOL!

The grain is a darker brown.  The flash kinda washed out the color and made it almost seem unfinished.  But it is fully ready to put your action into and shoot!

Hi Tim

Can you make the poplar with the walnut tip ambidextrous?
we are interested we will show case it in our showroom with your name and number

And a Disco we think would be great we will take one and do the same as the QB
each being poplar with the walnut tip ambidextrous.

Your work is top-notch you need to find the right rifles the Disco we think would
be a could start but stay with the hunter the Disco will not cut it as a target rifle
unless the rework the hole rifle.

We know if you stick with it people will be in our showroom
and say wow is that an early Tim Null Stock I want one but he is book up for a year

I can make the poplar ambi, no problem.  As for Disco stocks, Don Main would need to get a Discovery to use as a guide/template to inlet.  Doesn't even have to be a working gun, he just needs the action in order to inlet.

We had talked about just buying one, but if we could get a non-functioning gun that would be great.  Or if you are interested in making a deal on one, maybe a factory blem or something like that we could start doing stocks.

Let me know what you think.

Oh yeah, ambi stocks usually sell better since it is not lefty or righty specialized.
