I could do that. The problem is it would not be much of a price savings. The main cost is the blank from Don. They run $125.00 to $150.00. So after putting on a recoil pad, $10.99 at Archer Airguns, my profit is $64.01. Based on a $225.00 and $200.00 finished price. That is for my labor to carve and finish. If I don't do the final sanding and finishing and I reduce the price, what is my profit? $30 or $40? At some point it is not worth it.
If Don reduces his price to me, then I can reduce the final price.
Another point is that some light sanding is a bit of a misnomer. You need to sand until there are no imperfections, period. Anything except a mirror surface will show up after the finish is applied. Even those marks you don't see.
So it takes a bit of time with a finish sander and then by hand to get it to that point.
I could do the basic sanding, leaving the painstaking final sanding for the customer.
But based on Don's cost, the final price would only go down by about $20.00, leaving me a profit of $44.01..........not exactly getting rich, LOL
First I need to get an idea if there is a demand, then get a gun to Don so that he can cut and inlet the blanks.
