GRT-III Trigger
« on: September 19, 2006, 11:40:08 AM »
I just purchased my first airgun - Gamo CFX. Reading through the forums, I came across many threads regarding Charlie's trigger and I would just like to commend CharlieDaTuna on a great trigger. Very nicely machined and easy installation as noted. It took me longer to find my screwdriver than the installation. What a difference!!! Thank you Bob. Can't wait till you do my Turbo Tune!! :)

Way to go, Bruce,

My first, and so far only, rifle is also a CFX.  It's currently on it's way back from Bob, waiting is killing me!  It's amazing what a difference that trigger makes.  Biggest problem I had on my original install was getting the rubber inserts out of the stock to get at the screws.

You an iron sight guy, or scope?  If you don't already have a scope, check out the Leapers scopes.  Nice glass at decent prices.  Hey, while you're getting used to your new rifle, why not shoot some targets for the forum Shoot out?  Just for fun, but we seem to have a shortage of shooters...  Good luck, and great choice in rifles!

Dave

PS Just out of curiousity, what made you choose the CFX?

Hi Dave
As mentioned, this is brand new to me. I have never shot with a scope before, so I'm giving it a try. For now, trying the BSA which came with the combo from Pyramyd. Reading through all the forums, the CFX seemed to be best for the money(must admit, I was a bit torn between the CFX and Shadow). Many good reviews. The trigger was a big negative, so I ordered the GRT upon placing the order for the CFX, very glad I did -  huge difference. Now I need to get it to CDT for tune. Regarding target, I'd certainly willing to give it a shot, but weather and time doesn't seem to be on my side. I get home and it's dark and this weekend rain.......I hate when that happens!! I am very much looking forward to sending the gun to CDT, let me know when you get yours back. I'm sure it will be a huge difference, same as the trigger!

Which BSA did it come with, the 2-7x32 or the 4x32?  The 2-7 isn't a bad scope at all, although for my (aging) eyes, I have trouble getting everything clear.  I'm finding that even at max power, I have trouble seeing targets clearly at much over 30 yards.  And of course it gets worse as the light starts failing.  The light issue is the main reason I bought a new scope for my CFX.  I went with the Leapers 3-12x44 AO full size with the 30 mm tube.  Big scope, but it works really well, and I think it looks cool.  Will post a pic when I get my rifle back.  BTW, Shadow or CFX, you couldn't go wrong.  They share the same power plant, as do most of the Hunter series, and they're all just damn good guns.  Anyway, enjoy your rifle, and welcome to the Forum.  Drop in often, there's all kinds of interesting stuff to learn.
