I've since talked to people at a meet about, and the current wisdom is that though it is a really accurate and beautiful gun, it becomes annoying to caulk with the somewhat short underlever.
I haven't been able to find someone who kept theirs, so I may have to put it on hold until II can find one to check out.
The whole springer deal is starting to wear on me, as I was slightlyderided because I could only shoot 1 - 1 1/2" groups at 25 yards by one of the titled pro's there,
Gamo jokes abound, and while I'm not that sensitive to such things, there wasn't one there in 35 or so people there. Hell, there were only 2 springers, a TX 200 and an HR[?] 97. The weighed a ton with scope. I didn't realize how light a Gamo is. Most of the guns looked like submarines with tubes all over them and stocks that looked carved 2x6's, though very pretty. The scopes were as big as the rifles
However.....................
I did see a pcp called a[{Daystate] Air Wolf, which blew my socks off
Hard to tell when it fires [built in moderator with spring baffles], up to 50 fpe, electronic trigger and valves that optimizes the amount of air used for a given pellet and speed, and full electronic power settings, along with various other things.
400cc, dual regulated, [optional 500cc] "buddy bottle" is such that the balance is almost perfrct for a 8.5 lb gun. You get about 180 shots per fill [290-300 bars] at 19fpe.
Has a 10 shot magazine or single shot adapter, and is bolt operated.
An electronic lock system with key makes it unuseable when locked.
The stock is unbelievable shape and is of walnut, but I believe a synth stock is available [I hear the purest screaming]
The balance is incredible, and the ease of shooting - 1 oz click, no resistance, no recoil no hold time, is enticing.
The price is out there -- $2k, plus $500 scope, pluse small and large air tanks and hoses [assuming some used stuff] about $500-600 -- but I'm tempted.
You just show up with the gun, and maybe a very small tank to top off if it's a really long shoot, so it' not any more trouble than a springer.
I'll still keep my Shadow Supreme, though, I like it in that special way you do your first good gun.
